A day on the lake

September 24, 2023

I woke up at 3am and wrote my blog. I went back to sleep at 5am. At 6:45am Christopher woke me up and asked if I still wanted to go boating with our friends Marc and Renaté. I wanted to stay in bed and sleep some more. I wanted to have a whole day at home and not go anywhere. I thought about telling him and Angel to go without me but then I decided to go. It would be fun on the lake and we would be home in the early afternoon. I got up, made my tea and smoothie (7 bananas, handful of raspberries and blueberries, fresh pineapple juice and coconut water). Then we headed out. I took Little Bit and we left the rest of the dogs at home, we would have taken them if we were going to be in our own boat but we were going in our friends boat. We drove across the highway to Marc and Renaté’s, then followed them pulling their boat to the lake.

It was a great day on the lake. I felt like the wind and sun was clearing up all those old thought cobwebs out of my mind. The water was choppy from the wind and I started to get motion sickness when we were sitting idle in the middle of the lake. We went to a little island so I could get myself on stable ground. Angel swam and I sat in the water with Little Bit and watched her, while everyone else fished. The water felt great and my mind was at peace. Angel went looking for rocks and brought me a little yellow rock since it is my favorite color. After awhile we drove to another part of the lake and got out on shore to look for arrowheads. I started looking for a blue rock to give Angel since it was her favorite color. I came upon a path that I followed into the woods. The path led to a hiking trail. Oh yay! I was delighted. Bits and I walked the trail, I took pictures of plants and thoroughly enjoyed the sights, sounds and smells. We walked until we came to a road. On the way back I noticed I was getting hot and so was Bits. He would run from shady spot to shady spot. I hadn’t brought water with me but I knew we would be back at the lake soon and we would be fine.

When we got back to the lake, Bits laid down in the water and I joined him. I had found a couple of rocks with blue in them. I gave them to Angel. She examined them thoroughly and said she liked the colors. We all boated back to the loading dock. On the way, Marc gave us an entertaining ride, following the wake of a speed boat and later doing a couple of figure 8’s. At the dock, we loaded the boat on the trailer said our thank you’s and goodbyes and headed home. I was hungry and had finished my smoothie while on the lake. On the way home, I ate a lara bar out of my emergency food stash I kept in the truck. Angel talked the whole way home, at one point she realized it was Sunday and she had missed church. I told her I knew of an awana program on Sunday nights at a church not too far away from us. She said she wanted to go.

When arrived home, I looked up the awana program on the church’s website. It started at 5pm. It was 3:30pm and I wanted a nap. I told Angel to ask Christopher to wake me up at 4:20pm so I would have time to wake up and take Angel to awana’s. I immediately fell asleep and I woke up at 4:19pm. I didn’t need Christopher to wake me up after all. I usually wake up when I tell myself too, I stopped using an alarm years ago and simply wake up when I tell my mind to wake me up.

I got up, braided Angel’s hair and drove her to awana’s. They said I could pick her up at 6:20pm. I stayed a while and watched to make sure she was settled in. Another homeschool mom that I know was there with her kids. It was good to see her and we briefly talked, catching up on each others lives. When I saw Angel was settled in, I drove back home. Christopher had made me a bath (he so sweet), I took a bath and then ate a big salad. Christopher warmed up some food for himself he calls crabby patties. They smell horrible to me and make my stomach turn. I am normally really tolerant of smells I don’t like but for some reason this smell affects my gag reflex. I wanted Christopher to be able to enjoy his food without me gagging and I wanted to enjoy the rest of my salad. So, I happily sat outside on the step and finished eating. It was a delicious salad that Christopher had made, romaine lettuce, broccoli, cucumber and mushrooms. The dressing was my usual favorite lemon juice and tahini.

When I finished eating it was time to pick up Angel. She had a great time and wants to start going every Sunday. We went got back home, Angel ate her supper in the bath and while she was bathing, I read a couple of chapters to her from the 2nd book in The Magic Treehouse Series. Then we all gathered in the banana hut as a family and I read a couple of chapters from “Summer of Light” by W. Dale Cramer. We said our good nights and went to bed.

I am grateful to have experienced another wonderful day.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I dearly appreciate you.

Love,

Victoria
