Foraging day 2

Dear Diary and Friends,

Yesterday it was chilly and rainy. When I got home from work at 1:30pm I talked with Christopher and Angel, then relaxed in the hot tub a while. It started rainy pretty and we all met up in the house. I started playing cards with Christopher. Then I remembered that I needed to get out in the woods and forage before it got dark. So I ditched the card game and let Christopher win by 10 points (he got lucky 😉). I put on my raincoat and headed out with Angel. I have a sore ankle from falling off the porch when I missed a step the other day, so I thought about riding the 4 wheeler but I decided I could walk if I took it easy.
I am so glad I went. Once I step into the woods my energy shifts. I feel centered and at peace. The worries that tend to run in the background of my mind disappear. All is well and as it should be.
It was a short walk but absolutely blissful. Today’s foraging is a very common weed in this area.
Camphorweed: the plant is edible but not very palpable. The entire plant can be used in a tea to ease inflammation. It is even more effective if made into essential oil which I’m thinking of doing. I might make my own distiller and use it to play with plants during my year of foraging.

Thank y’all for reading my blog and being a part of my life.
With gratitude,
Victoria
