Church, Laundry and Decorating the Porch

November 26, 2023

I woke at 2 a.m. and wrote my blog. I went back to sleep at 4 a.m., it started raining as I was drifting off to sleep. I felt happy that I now had a covered porch to keep the front of the banana hut from getting splattered by mud when it rains. I woke again at 6:30 a.m. and laid in bed praying my thanksgivings and gratitudes before getting up. My body felt a little stiff and sore from all the work I did building the porch roof with Christopher yesterday. I decided the best way to deal with a sore body is to keep it moving. I jumped 100 rebounder jumps and went into the kitchen to make tea. Christopher and I said our good mornings and talked for a while. Without Angel there it seemed so quiet and I had all this extra time.

I got dressed and started laundry. It was a cold windy day, the wind would help with the clothes drying on the line. We line dry our clothes and I love it. Sometimes it’s not convenient to line dry our laundry, especially if it’s raining for a few days in a row but I’m not here to live a convenient life. Hanging clothes is something I enjoy. It’s meditative and a work of art. I love the feel and smell of the clothes after they’ve dried in the fresh air. I love the simplicity of it. Every once in a while Christopher starts talking about buying a dryer but I like not having one…even when it’s inconvenient.

While waiting for Angels sister to bring her home. I sat on the couch and did a Suduko game I saved from the paper. I missed seeing a number somewhere and lost the game. I’m out of practice. I used to do crosswords and suduko often. Now I focus more on reading and writing my blog. Angel arrived and quickly got ready for church. Her sister had fixed her hair cute and she looked nice in her Sunday dress. Church was great. I was wonderful seeing everyone and being surrounded by love. The sermon was enriching and I was grateful for the message I received. Be present, ask and listen to what God has to say.

When we arrived home from church. Angel cleaned up some of her messes around the house which she did reluctantly while I did laundry. Christopher did the final touches on the porch roof. When he finished, I expanded, organized and decorated the new porch area. It’s so nice having a covered porch now. I thought it looked really nice when it was all done. I was hungry and make soft serve nice cream with frozen bananas and raspberries blended together in the vitamix. I ate it while Angel and I did a couple of 100 piece puzzles together in the banana hut. My body was feeling tired, I laid down and took a cozy nap for an hour and a half. I woke up just in time to take Angel to Awanas. While Angel was at her program, I went to the grocery store and drove around town looking at the lights. I picked Angel up when the program was over and dropped her off at home. Then I drove to Rockdale to meet with the community band to practice the song I’m singing next Sunday for Christmas at the Kay.

When I arrived home, I took a long hot shower and went straight to bed. Angel slept with me in the banana hut on the trundle bed. We fell asleep around 9:30 p.m. listening to Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry on audio.
