October 1, 2023
I woke up at 6am. I wrote my blog until 8am. Then I changed my bedding and put on nice clean sheets. I made tea and did my morning routine. Angel wanted her hair put into 8 braids for church and by the time I finished it was time to leave. I drove to the little church we attend up the road. When it came time for childrenâs church both ladies that do the childrenâs program were not there and Angel was the only child there so I volunteered to do it. That worked out perfectly because we needed to leave early anyway and could sneak out the back door without disturbing the service.
Next, we went to Street Ministries and attended the church service there. I was starting to feel really tired during the service and thought maybe I was hungry. I drank some smoothie but still felt really tired. I had gotten plenty of sleep, I must be thinking tired thoughts. When the service was over, we went to tractor supply and got propane refilled for our outdoor shower. Then we went to the grocery store. At the grocery store I ran into another homeless guy I know named Cowboy. I met him a while ago when I used to ride my electric bicycle to town before some of its wires burnt up. As soon as it gets repaired I will ride it again. Cowboy fixes bicycles and makes them into low riders with ape handlebars. I ran into him often when I rode my bicycle and always had friendly conversations with him. Thinking of riding my electric bicycle reminded me of a time when I was riding the electric bicycle home with Angel after a long day at work. Itâs an hour of dirt roads to get home and that particular day I had gone a different route to give some variety. The road ended up being really sandy and bumpy. I was not enjoying the ride and after every bump Angel would laugh and laugh finding the bumps fun. I snapped at her and told her to stop laughing. She responded with, âbut mother (she calls me mother for some reason) the bumps are funâ. That struck home and I realized that I myself could be laughing at the bumps instead of being mad about them. I can laugh at all the bumps I encounter in life if I so choose. I was grateful for the wisdom I received from a child.
We finally made it home around 3pm. At 4pm we were having family over for supper, Christopherâs son Ben was coming over with his new girlfriend and we were all excited to meet her. I needed a nap before everyone came. I laid down at 3:30pm and did a full body relaxation session then drifted off to sleep. I woke up 20 minutes later feeling more rested. Christopherâs mom Ann was here but no one else had arrived yet. We sat outside and talked. Then Christopherâs daughters in laws Matt and Sharon arrived. We all sat and talked for a while. It was getting late and Ben still had not arrived. I sent him a text and he said he had told him dad next Sunday not this Sunday. I informed everyone of our mix up and said we would do it again next week. We thought it was great fun that we all got together anyway. We ate supper, I had steamed vegetables and salad. I cleaned up the kitchen while everyone sat around the table and talked. I was feeling really tired again and kept busy to stay awake. I made my smoothie for tomorrow since it would be an early morning going to feed the homeless.
When everyone left, I took a bath, made tea and went straight to bed. It felt nice to crawl into clean sheets and I fell asleep right away.
I am grateful to have experienced another wonderful day.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I dearly appreciate yâall.
Love,
VictoriaÂ
