Dear Diary,
I woke up at 7 am. I had not slept well. Solo had been restless and panting all night. I had gotten up several times to let him use the bathroom, thinking that was why he was panting but it didn’t seem to help. He was just really stressed out and I was regretting agreeing to board him. Angel woke up in her trundle bed and we cuddled for a while. We made our beds and I took Solo on a walk while Angel let out the ducks, chickens and geese. Then I put Solo back in his crate in the banana hut, I left the banana door open so Solo could see outside and have fresh air. I went in the house to feed the other dogs and made my tea and smoothies. I could hear Solo crying in his crate for a few minutes and then he stopped. When I finished in the house I went to get Solo and quickly realized that he had completely broken out of his metal crate and was no where to be seen. Oh no! He had completely bent the metal bars on the crate and broke out the front panel. I really wished I wouldn’t have agreed to board him, he is a lot to deal with. I called for him and he came down the path and right up to me. Thank you! I was so grateful he had not run off.
I put him in the outside kennel with his food and water. I double secured him in the kennel with his leash. Then I went to town with Angel. We went to the store to buy reaching grabber tools. We were going to pick up trash around town today for my leadership class group project and we needed the grabbers to do it. We still had an hour before the project started so we went to the new farmers market. Angel had brought along her birthday money to spend and was really excited about the market. It was the first market of the year and I was excited about it too. I was hoping there would be fresh produce there but there wasn’t any yet. Regardless, I got to see a lot of friends that had booths there and it was fun visiting with people. Angel had a great time spending all her money and spent all of the money she brought. She started talking about all the chores she was going to do so she could earn more money to spend at next weeks farmers market.
Only 3 of us showed up for our trash pick up project. We picked up trash behind the liquor store and laundry mat and then at Veterans park. Angel liked that we went to the park because she got to play at the playground. We picked up trash for 2 hours and had a lot of fun. When we finished, I went to Moon Brew and got tea. I had a great conversation with a friend while I was there and saw some other friends there as well. I left Moon Brew and got our propane tank filled for the outdoor bath hot water heater and got our gas can filled that I use for the side-x-side. Then I did my cat sitting job and headed home.
By the time I got home, I was feeling really tired from not sleeping well. I got Solo out of his kennel and took him on a walk. Then I put him back in his kennel and laid down to rest. I slept for 2 hours and I felt like I could have slept longer but I wanted to get the new garden shed put up. I checked on Solo and started putting the shed together. Christopher helped me and we got it together fairly quickly. I put pavers down on the floor and used the side-x-side to haul all the garden stuff that I had in my bicycle shed over to the new garden shed. I put everything in there and got it nice and organized. I had Solo on his leash secured next to the shed so he could be near me while I got everything organized. I was glad I now had a shed for my gardening stuff.
We went on a family walk to the gulley and Solo had a lot of fun walking out in the woods. I could tell that he really wanted off his leash so he could run free like our dogs did but I couldn’t risk him running off. When we got back, I took a bath. I kept Solo next to me on his leash while I bathed. He seemed to do much better when he was near me. After my bath, I put Solo back in his kennel and drove to town to watch a bluegrass show put on by Karl Shifflet and Friends. It was a great show and I really enjoyed it. The music and singing were wonderful. I love bluegrass music and it’s even better watching it live.
I left the show a little early to go get 19 chickens from a friend who is planning on moving in a few months. She wanted me to come after dark when the chickens were roosting because they become dormant after dark. I arrived and we got all of the chickens put in the back of the truck with its cover on. I planned to keep them in there overnight and let them out in the morning.
When I got home, Angel and Christopher were already in bed. I put Solo in his crate in the banana hut and went straight to bed. I fell asleep immediately at around 11 pm.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I dearly appreciate you.
Love,
Victoria
