Tired, Cleaning 5 Houses, Dog Walking and Solo’s Cough

Monday April 15, 2024

Dear Diary,

I woke up at 3am. Solo had been panting and pacing all night and I hadn’t gotten much sleep. I gave him another calming chew and took him out to use the bathroom. It didn’t seem to help him. I laid next to him and wrote my blog until 4 am. Then I got up, made my bed and put Solo in the kennel. He started to have a slight cough and I thought it might be from being so stressed out. I talked soothingly to him and gave him food and water. I went in the house and Christopher was still asleep. I fed the dogs, made tea and my smoothie and left at 4:45 am. I had a long day of 5 houses to clean and walking Zona and I was very tired. I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it through the day and I prayed for strength.

At my first house, I listened to a talk by Tim Fletcher called How to Control Intense Emotions Instantly. It was really good and got my mind in a good place. My 2nd house was next door. My client was home and I enjoyed talking to her while I cleaned. Next, I walked Zona and played frisbee with her in her backyard. It was a nice break for both of us. I got a break from cleaning and she got to get out of the house. She is such a great dog and I’m so grateful to get to spend time with her 5 or 6 days a week.

My 3rd and 4th houses went well and the time went by quickly. My 5th house was a new client that I had agreed to clean for once a month. When I arrived he said he would only need me this one time because his daughter was coming to live with him. I was relieved about that because my schedule is so full. I suggested if he didn’t really need me to clean today that I would be ok with him. He assured me that he did need me this one time, so I got busy cleaning his house. It really did need cleaned and I got it looking great.

When I finished cleaning, I was happy to be heading home. I had a slight headache coming on from lack of sleep and a 11 hour day of cleaning. Solo’s owners had picked him up from Christopher an hour before I got home and I was glad he was back at his house. As soon as I arrived home I greeted Christopher and Angel and asked how it went with Solo. Christopher said it went fine other than Solo had been coughing all day. I wondered what was causing him to cough so much and thought maybe he ate something he wasn’t supposed to. Shortly after that, I received a text message from Solo’s owner saying he was coughing a lot. I messaged them back about how stressed out he had been and maybe that was causing it. I was so tired from being up most of the night that I could hardly think straight. I was feeling really stressed out about Solo, thinking maybe he had hurt his throat while he had been in my care. I knew I had taken really good care of him and did the best I knew to keep him calm.

I had 2 meetings to go to that evening. One was the Milam Community Theater and The Kay Theater meeting together to talk about collaborating on shows. I’m on boards for both theaters and was glad they were collaborating. My other meeting was for music club. I took a bath and was going to get ready to leave for my meetings but my headache got worse and I decided I wasn’t going anywhere that evening except to bed.

I got out of the bath and told Christopher I was going to bed early. Angel joined me and I read aloud 2 chapters of The National Park Mystery Series book 3. Then I put on a Little House on The Prairieaudiobook and we fell asleep at around 7:30 pm.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I dearly appreciate you.

Love,

Victoria
