Morning Prayer:

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for kittens.
  • Thank you for Angel.
  • Thank you for adventures.
  • Thank you for love.

I love you!

I awoke at 6 AM, I felt fully rested and started writing my blog. I took a break from writing and took a long hot shower. I got dressed and went outside to let Bits out and I wrote good morning on the white-board sign I have set out by the main road. Then I sat on the daybed and wrote my blog. I finished it and posted it just as Angel was waking up.

Angel was hungry and I put on inspirational instrumental music and started her breakfast cooking while she took a shower. I cut up pineapple, carrots, apples and ginger to juice and Angel ate her breakfast. She called Christopher and talked to him while I juiced. Then Angel played in her room and I cleaned up the kitchen. Just as I finished washing all the parts for the juicer, I realized that I hadn’t made almond milk. I put the juicer together again and got out the almonds I had soaking out of the fridge. It only took a minute to make the almond milk, then I washed all the juicer parts again.

Angel left for jujitsu and I sat at the table and started today’s blog. Bits needed to go out, so I took him downstairs and changed my sign to say “what are you grateful for today?”. I came upstairs and wrote some more of today’s blog, then I made raw brownies in the food processor using walnuts, dates and cacao.

Aaron called and we had a great conversation. Angel came home from jujitsu while I was still on the phone and she played in her room. When I hung up, I walked to the thrift store and found a few great finds. I saw Aaron there and a few other people I know.

When I got home, I fed Angel lunch and got ready to go on an adventure with Aaron. He arrived as I was getting the last of our food packed. Angel showed him her new farm set that she had bought yesterday and I showed him some of my nice thrift store buys that I have around the house.

We got loaded up in Aaron’s truck and hearted (headed) out of town. It’s was cloudy out and a little bit rainy, I was excited to experience an adventure no matter what the weather. Aaron took us out on a dirt road off highway 95 called Jackson creek. It was absolutely beautiful out there. Spring flowers were blooming. Arrowleaf balsamroot grew in abundance with their bright yellow flowers. The entirearrowleaf balsamroot plant is edible. Desert parsley was also in abundance and also has yellow flowers and also is edible. Intermingled with the yellow was lavender great camas flowers. The bulbs of great camas are edible. Pink phlox grew here and there. Wild phlox is not edible. The only phlox that is edible is the flowers of garden phlox. I also saw a few western stoneseed, they had an off-white slightly yellow flower and the entire plant is edible. They were purple ballhead waterleaf and they are also edible.Bighead clover had a pink and white flower and of course all parts of clover are edible. Serviceberry bushes were blooming white flowers. The edible berries will be ripe in late June depending on the elevation. There were many more blooming trees, plants and flowers. So many beautiful colors mixed in with the bright green spring grass and so many wild edibles!! Yay!!

Aaron parked where there was a smaller creek crossing the road. We all got out and went our separate ways. I looked at rocks and flowers along the edge of the creek.

When I walked over to find Angel and Aaron, they were down by a bridge that crossed a larger creek. Angel ran up to me and Aaron went off to do his own thing. Angel showed me that she could wade across the small creek in her wading boots without getting her feet wet. The she showed me how she could get onto a tree from the bridge going over a big creek. The creek was raging below her and I didn’t think what she was doing was a good idea but Angel was confident that she wouldn’t fall. I took a video of her daredevil antics.

Then all three of us walked up the road a ways. We took an animal trail down a steep bank that went to the creek. When we got to the trees and bushes next to the creek they were so dense that we couldn’t get to the water. We slowly hiked up the bank to the road. Then Angel and I took pictures of each other sitting among the bright yellow arrowleaf balsamroot. Yellow is my favorite color. It’s so bright and happy and it’s the color of the sun. I like all colors though, especially cheerful colors.

We all hung out at a big rock. Aaron had broken a section of the rock off and we talked about how the inside of that rock has never been seen by a human being until just now.

We walked back to truck and slowly drove to Council. We stopped a couple of times so I could take pictures of flowers or to let the dogs run. I wasn’t ready for our adventure to be over. I love being in wild nature so much.

Aaron dropped us off at our apartment and I laid down to take a short nap. My stomach was feeling bloated and I knew it was my body detoxing and I’m good with that. I still wasn’t feeling that great when I woke up from my nap and I canceled coming to help with Girls Club. I got up and drove out in the country to check on a cat. I gave her fresh food and water and scooped her litter box. When I got home, Angel rode her bicycle to Girls Club and I talked to Aaron on the phone for a while.

When Angel arrived home from Girls Club, she wanted to call Christopher. Her phone needed to be charged and I let her use my phone. She talked to Christopher for a few minutes and then handed me the phone. Christopher and I talked about Angel coming to visit him sometime this summer, maybe in June.

Angel and I got ready for bed. I read her a chapter from William H. McGuffey, Boy Reading Genius and we went to bed. I wrote my blog notes and put on a sleep meditation. I drifted off to sleep at around 10 PM.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.

Love, Victoria
