Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Dog Sitting, Cleaning, Scammed, Scrabble, My Moms and RV’s

Fridays January 3, 2025

Dear Diary,

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for hot springs.
  • Thank you for awesome clients.
  • Thank you for different places to park my motorhome.
  • Thank you for meditation.
  • Thank you for peace of mind.
  • Thank you for dog sitting opportunities.

I love you!

I woke up at 7 am. Angel woke up at the same time and played on her phone while I looked at rv’s for sale. We got up and I let the dogs out. Angel ate a quesadilla for breakfast and did her schoolwork while I made myself tea and started to clean the house where we were dog sitting. My clients had pre-paid me to clean the house for them and they were coming home tomorrow.

Mid morning, my younger sister brought her two small dogs over for me to watch while she went skiing with my niece. I cleaned all morning and got all of the house clean except the bathroom, the laundry room and the kitchen floor.

Angel and I took a break in the afternoon and went swimming at Zim’s hot springs. It was great having the hot springs 5 minutes away. My friend Brett met us there and I told him that I was thinking of buying another RV and selling my motorhome. He said that he could help me fix up my motorhome and I wouldn’t have to buy another one. I thought that might be good idea. It felt doable with help.

We swam for about an hour, then Brett followed us to my dog sitting house. When we got there, we all played board games together. First we played Guess Who then we played Sorry and then we played Candyland. Angel got tired of playing and watched kids shows on TV while Brett and I played 3 games of scrabble. He won the first two and was really happy about that since I usually win. I thought it was great too because if he doesn’t win at scrabble sometimes then he won’t want to play it with me anymore. Really, it’s not fun to win every time and it’s just as much fun when others win. I like to celebrate with them.

My sister came and picked up her dogs and Brett went home shortly after. I cleaned the laundry room and bathroom and mopped the kitchen floor. Then Angel and I went to bed and I read to her a few chapters of Ranger in Time. She read to me one of her story books while I wrote my blog notes. Then I looked at RV’s online and saw a tiny house on wheels for sale for a really good price at $2,000. I got really excited about it because it was yellow and reminded me of my “banana hut” that I had in Texas. I messaged the lady about it and told her that I was interested in buying it and asked if I could look at it on Saturday. She said that I could and answered my questions about it. It sounded perfect and I told her I would buy it. She asked for a down payment to hold it and I agreed. I send her $200 on Venmo and just in case it was a scam, I used purchase protection. As soon as I sent the money the lady became upset because I send the money as a purchase and because of that, the money had a hold on it. Suddenly I realized that it really was a scam. I looked up the ladies profile and it had just been made. Ahhh…why hadn’t I checked that in the first place. I know what to check for to avoid being scammed but I had been so excited about the tiny house that I had forgotten to be wise. I messaged the lady saying that we could work everything out when I saw her in person. She deleted the post and disappeared. I immediately called Venmo but it was after hours. I would call them in the morning. I felt confident that I would get the money back and I went to sleep at 10:30 pm.

Dear Diary,

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for dog sitting opportunities.
  • Thank you for my sisters.
  • Thank you for sunshine.
  • Thank you for water.

I love you!

I awoke at 4:30 am. I played wordle and connections and wrote my blog. After editing and posting my blog, it was time to get up. I called Venmo to dispute the money I sent to the scammer and it sounds like since I used purchase protection on my Venmo credit card that I will be getting the money back. That’s good. I still can’t believe I fell for the scam. Usually I’m really savvy about such things but I forgot to check the persons profile and their marketplace reviews until after the fact.

Angel was awake by the time I got off the phone. I got up and let the dogs out. After Angel got out of bed, I stripped the sheets off the bed to wash them. I made Angel oatmeal for breakfast and tea for myself. Angel was excited that it was Saturday and she didn’t have to do school. She played on her phone and I finished cleaning the house. The house looked great when I finished. I knew they would be really happy with it when they got home later.

As I was packing up to leave, Lucky knew we were leaving and kept following me around. I gave her a lot of hugs and treats and told her that we would be back to see her again and that her owners would be home in a few hours.

We drove to Council and listened to Nancy Drew on the way. When we got into town, I stopped and looked at a class A motorhome that was parked on the side of the road. They wanted $7,000 for it but it didn’t look like it was in very good shape. I called the number anyway and the lady said that she would negotiate on the price since it didn’t have a hot water heater. I didn’t think she would negotiate down to what I wanted to pay for it in the shape it was in but I asked if I could see inside. The lady said that she lives in New Meadows and had some friends heading that way in an hour that could meet me with the key to unlock it. I said that would work.

I drove home and my sister was there. Angel was excited to see her so that she could play Minecraft. I went out to my motorhome to look at it. It started right up and I turned on the generator to see if it still worked. It started up but wouldn’t stay running. I looked around to see if I thought Angel and I could fit in it. It is only 20 feet long but it is doable. It needs work on the inside. The fridge freezes everything. The overhead heater and air conditioner doesn’t work. The inside lights don’t work. There’s a small amount of water damage from a leak I fixed. The awning is broken. It might be better to just buy a bigger rv that doesn’t need a much work done. The motorhome I looked at earlier wouldn’t work though. It’s priced way too high for all the work it needs done. The lady with the motorhome called and said her friends were getting ready to head to Council with the key and I told her that I had decided not to get it.

I went back in the house and talked to my sister while I made two 64 oz. smoothies. I was going to leave for Caldwell after I cleaned the bank. Angel and I would be staying the night with my mom. I packed up the smoothies to take with me, so I would have plenty of good food to eat.

I walked over to the bank and cleaned it. When I got back, Angel and I hearted (headed) to my moms. We listened to my audiobook Unnatural Death on the way. The last half hour of the two hour drive I became really tired.m but I managed to keep myself awake.

At my moms, I wanted to rest for a few minutes and take a little nap. My mom was in a hurry though and wanted to go to Costco to return a coat she had gotten me for Christmas that was too small for me. We rode with her to Costco and traduce was really congested. Every time I go to a city, I am reminded of how much I enjoy living in a small town. Living in a small community in Texas made my fall in love with small town with small town life.

We finally made it to Costco and it was super busy there. Ughhh. My mom was going full speed through the store and I was dragging. I was too tired to deal with Costco chaos. We weaved through all the people and my mom bought tons of stuff. The only part of the store that I perked up in was the produce section and we got a lot of nice looking produce.

I was relieved to be done shopping when we got to the check out line. Then my mom said she had forgotten a few things and headed off. I stayed where I was and leaned against a display case while I waited for my mom to come back. I closed my eyes and instantly nodded off. I suddenly woke up when I started to fall sideways. I caught myself and decided I needed to sit down. I sat at a table in the food area and watched for my mom and Angel to come to the check out area. There were so many people there I wasn’t sure if I would see them but if I couldn’t find them, I figured I would call my mom’s phone.

After a while I saw them walking by. They had already gotten checked out. Yay, we were leaving. I helped load all the stuff in my mom’s car and traffic was lighter on the drive back. At my moms, I helped unload everything and I was feeling a little bit less tired. I made a vegetable soup and started it cooking while my mom made spaghetti for Angel.

When the food was ready, we all ate. The soup was really yummy. Then my mom and Angel played Guess Who while I went to bed early. I put on a sleep meditation about self control and immediately drifted off to sleep.

Dear Diary,

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for my mom.
  • Thank you for a reliable vehicle.
  • Thank you for flowers.
  • Thank you for church.

I love you!

I awoke at 4 am. I played wordle and connections and wrote my blog. When I finished writing, I posted my blog and went asleep again at 7 am. At 9 am, I awoke again. I got up and my mom was in the kitchen. She had some cut up watermelon and grapefruits sitting on the table. I asked her if we were going to church. She said that we were and looked at the time. She said we needed to hurry because we had to be there at 9:30 am. I sat down and ate a grapefruit and some watermelon. Angel was in the bedroom she had slept in playing on her phone. My mom went and got her and she ate some watermelon.

Amazingly we arrived at church only a few minutes late. The church was crowded but we found a place to sit. We sang songs and greeted each other. Then Angel went to children’s church. The sermon was about sexual immorality. Ever since going through menopause I could care less about sex. All those years of making bad decisions due to sex were over and good riddance to that nonsense! 😂

After church we went back to my mom’s house. We all went on a walk around the neighborhood with the dogs. It was really warm out for being in the middle of winter in Idaho. It was 49 degrees and flowers were blooming. I wasn’t even wearing a coat. It’s a whole different climate down in the valley plus it’s been way warmer this winter than usual. The walk was wonderful. I took pictures of plants and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I love walking outside. If I could get paid to walk, that would be my ideal job. Walking and writing about walking.

Back at the house, I warmed up my vegetable soup and it was just as delicious as it had been last night. I looked at rv’s on marketplace and set up a time to look at one later that day when I would be heading home.

Angel, my mom and I all played a couple of board games. A game called Uzzle and Domino’s. Then it was time to leave to meet the lady with the rv. My mom followed me there because she wanted to look at it too. The rv wasn’t in very good shape and the lady wanted $7,000 for it. I told the lady that I was looking around and I would let her know if I decided to buy it. I had no intention of buying it though.

My mom headed to her house and Angel and I drove to Council. We listened to Nancy Drew on the way and I kept my eye out for rv’s for sale. When we got to town we stopped by and talked to the people who are offering to let me park my RV on their land and use their hookups. It’s the same people I do wood splitting and sitting for, Mr. and Mrs. C. We talked about the ins-and-outs of the agreement and what was expected. They said that I would only need to pay for my utilities and I insisted on paying some rent but they wouldn’t agree to that. We talked about everything I would need to get the rv winterized so the pipes won’t freeze and Angel and I will stay warm enough.

When we got home, I talked to my sister for a while. Then Angel and I took a bath and went to bed. I wrote out some of the article I needed to have submitted to the newspaper by tomorrow afternoon about the city council meeting I attended Monday afternoon. As I was listening to the recording I had made of the meeting, I realized that the numbers of the motion made to spend allocated money didn’t add up correctly. I listened to the numbers over and over and added them up several times but they were $44 over the amount of money available to spend. I wasn’t sure what to do because I knew some people that read the article would notice the numbers didn’t add up correctly. I went downstairs and talked to my sister about it. Then I called the editor of the newspaper. He suggested I talk to the city manager tomorrow and see if I can get the numbers straightened out before submitting the article. That sounded perfect and I thanked him.

I went back to bed and Angel read me one of her books while I wrote my blog notes. Then I put on a sleep meditation and we drifted off to sleep at around 10 pm.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.

Love, Victoria
