Dear Diary,
Good morning God,
- Thank you for this day.
- Thank you for tea.
- Thank you for dog sitting opportunities.
- Thank you for cleaning clients.
- Thank you for love.
I love you!
I awoke at 5:30 am. I let out the dogs and made tea. I packed up leftover smoothie and drove to McCall to do a cleaning and organizing opportunity. I left Bits with Lucky, the dog I am pet sitting, so that they could keep each other company.
I arrived at my clients house right on time at 7 am. We greeted each other and got started right away. I organized some of her kitchen cupboards and that was really fun. They looked great when I finished and my client/friend was really happy with how they turned out. We cleaned the living room together. She had to leave for an appointment and I finished up cleaning the floors.
I drove to Council to do an interview for cleaning a bar. On the way I stopped at my dog sitting house in New Meadows. I let the dogs out and took Bits with me. When I arrived at the interview, the first thing the owner asked me was if I was planning on staying in the area for a while. I said I was. She went on to say that they’ve had a high turn over with cleaners and they want someone who will be there a while. Then she said that they pay $15 an hour and would I be ok with that. I said that I preferred $20 or more. She said that she couldn’t pay any more than $15 an hour and she wanted the bar to be thoroughly cleaned twice a week. I now understood why she had a high turn over. She showed me around the bar but my interest in cleaning it had lost its momentum. When I left she told me that she would call me if they decided to hire me. I didn’t expect to be hired and that was fine with me. Plenty of really good income opportunities have come my way recently and I wasn’t interested in cleaning a dirty bar for low wages.
After the interview, I went home. Angel had stayed the night there with my sister and her grandson. My sister’s grandson is the same she as Angel. When I walked in the door, Angel and my great nephew were playing on their phones. I made 2 smoothies to have for tomorrow and the next day. The lady that interviewed me at the bar called and said that they would like to do a second interview with me on Thursday and that they were either going to hire me or one other person. I told them to go ahead and hire the other person but she said they still wanted to do another interview with me. For some reason I said ok instead of just telling her that I didn’t want the job.
My nephew arrived and we had plans to go to a natural hot springs called trail creek since Zim’s is closed on Tuesdays. Angel rode with my nephew and his son and they followed me to the hot springs. On the way through McCall we stopped and I picked up my friend Brett. The road to the hot springs was snow covered and harder to drive than I had expected but we made it there without any problems. When we pulled into the turn-out to park, it was packed full of cars. I didn’t know how all those people fit into the hot springs because the hot springs is just 2 small pools built up next to the creek. Regardless, we had driven almost 2 hours to get there, we were going to get in those hot springs.
On the short hike down to the hot springs, the snow was slippery from being packed down. There were ropes tied to the trees to hang onto but they didn’t do much good. I walked in the snow next to the path because it wasn’t packed down and wasn’t as slippery. My nephew and his son slid down most of the way on their butts which was really funny. Angel was scared of falling and cried most of the way down with Brett helping her.
When we made it to the hot springs, the 2 pools were packed full of people. We got in the one that was the least crowded. It was really hot. I’m guessing it was 105 or 106 degrees F. The kids sat on the edge so they wouldn’t get too hot. Brett didn’t get in with us right away. He was determined to find another pool that was less crowded. After a while he came back from hiking downstream and said that there was another pool down there but it was only luke warm. Then he hiked upstream a ways and didn’t find any thing. So he joined us in the crowded pool. There were 5 young adults in there with us and the pool was pretty much maxed out. The other pool next to us had even more people in it and there were people that had arrived after us waiting on the rocks above for space to open up.
My nephew and his son only stayed for about 30 minutes. Before they left, my nephew laid down in the ice cold creek and then got back in the hot springs. Later on I did the same thing. The creek water is freezing cold and when you get back in the hot springs, your body tingles all over. It’s great fun. Angel, Brett and I stayed for about an hour and a half. A lot of people had left by then and the pools were less crowded. A beautiful blue Stellar Jay came and visited us while we were soaking and I got a couple of pictures of it. I didn’t seem scared of us at all and was really close.
On the drive back, the sun was setting over west mountain and the view was so stunning that I stopped to take a picture. A while later, we saw a couple of cow elk crossing the road but they were hidden in the trees when we got up to where they had crossed and I couldn’t get a good picture of them. I was glad to see them though. I’d been wanting to see some elk. I hadn’t seen any yet since I moved back.
A little further down the mountain we came upon a big 4 wheel drive pickup stuck on the edge of the road facing the wrong way. I have no idea how they got in that mess because even though the road was snow covered, it wasn’t slick. I pulled up next to them and asked if they needed help, though I doubted my little truck could pull them out. There was a young man and woman in the truck and they were laughing as they told us that they had a friend on the way to help them. I thought it was great that they were laughing at their situation and didn’t bother asking how they had gotten stuck the way they did, even though I’m sure it was a funny story.
When we got to McCall, we dropped off Brett and stopped to eat at a restaurant. I ate a salad and Angel had spaghetti. Lucky was happy to see us when we arrived at my dog sitting house in New Meadows. I let her out and got settled in. Angel and I watched videos on YouTube for a while. Then I looked at rv’s for sale. My motorhome is too little at only 20 feet and I think we need a bigger one.
We went to bed at around 9 pm and fell asleep at around 9:30 pm listening to a sleep meditation.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
