Dear Diary,
Good morning God,
- Thank you for this day.
- Thank you for Bible study.
- Thank you for friends.
- Thank you for walks.
- Thank you for rain.
- Thank you for my life.
I love you!
I woke up at 6:30. I got up, made tea and started laundry. My older sister got up right as I was leaving to go feed my younger sisters cat and chickens. It was icy outside and the front step was slippery. I was really glad I had my studded snow tires on when I felt my truck slide a small amount going around a corner on the drive to my younger sisters. I fed the cat and petted her for a few minutes and gave her some treats. The chickens were in the backyard and still had plenty of food and water.
I arrived home and left again right away to walk to the car parts store to buy oil and an oil filter. It was time to change the oil in my truck and I wanted to get it done before it got colder this weekend. When I got back, my sister was leaving for work and Angel was still asleep. I hung laundry to dry in my room and I made a smoothie.
Angel woke up at 9 am and wanted oatmeal for breakfast. She ate and got dressed and we walked to the recreation center. It was Angels first day of doing jujitsu. She was nervous and excited at the same time. All the kids at the class were homeschooled since it was held during school hours and some kids Angel had already met were there. I got to meet a couple more homeschool moms and they were very welcoming. Angel really liked the class. The instructor worked with her one on one a lot of the time, teaching her how to do some of the moves. Angel did great and said that she definitely wants to sign up and keep going.
When jujitsu was over with, we walked next door to the library. Angel and I did school together there. I had her work on her multiplication tables up to five. She almost instantly memorized them all. Numbers are her thing. Then we practiced reading. Angel picked out a challenging book and read it out loud. When school was finished, she played with the toys while I sat and wrote my blog. After an hour or so, we walked home.
I started to feel a small amount of congestion developing in my nose and I had a slight sore throat. I cut up a bunch of vegetables and started a vegetable soup cooking. While I waited for the soup to cook, I vacuumed and dusted the house. When it was ready, I poured myself a bowl of soup and talked on the phone to a friend in Boise while I ate. We made plans for him to come visit tomorrow morning and go on a walk along the Weiser river trail.
When I got off the phone, I took a bath and sat on the couch to write my blog and instead, I fell asleep. My sister came home and I woke up. Angel came downstairs and ate grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. My sister and I sat in her room and watched Bad Sisters while Angel played video games on the TV. I was feeling really congested and lethargic. I had planned to take Angel to “girls club” and help out but I wasn’t feeling up to it. I asked Angel if she wanted me to drop her off at “girls club” so that she could play with the other girls but she said she didn’t want to be there without me. My sister and I finished the first season of Bad Sisters and I was glad it was over. I’m done watching yucky shows on TV. I bet my congestion has a lot to do with the yucky energy of the show. Angel and I went upstairs and got ready for bed. I read her a Magic Treehouse book and put on a sleep meditation for her to listen to. I fell asleep at around 10 pm.

Dear Diary,
Good morning God,
- Thank you for this day.
- Thank you for laughter.
- Thank you for congestion.
- Thank you for acceptance.
- Thank you for my sisters.
- Thank you for compassion.
I love you!
I woke up at 7:30 am. I was still feeling congested but it seemed to be getting better. I had a message on my phone from my friend that was coming to visit today. The message said he was here early. I called him and said I would get ready and meet him downtown. I got dressed, made my tea and walked downtown with Little Bit. I greeted my friend and we drove to my younger sisters where I fed her cat and chickens. We talked while we spent time petting Halloween the cat. She loved getting attention from 2 people and soaked up all the extra petting.
We took the back roads going back to Council and enjoyed the beautiful views. When we got back we went on a walk through town and along the Weiser river trail. We took my older sisters dog Huckleberry along with Little Bit. Angel didn’t walk but rode her bicycle instead. It was raining when we started out, then the rain turned to snow and it felt like the temperature dropped. It became very cold and wet. The front of my pant legs were soaking wet but I was enjoying the walk regardless. I had on a warm coat and gloves and felt only a little cold. Angel got really cold riding her bicycle and went home ahead of us. She didn’t have good winter gloves and was wearing knitted ones and her pants were also soaking wet in the front. When we arrived at the house, Angel was crying from being so cold. She had gotten her first taste of winter in the north and wasn’t happy about it. I ran her hands under cold water until they felt better. It’s important to start out with cold water on freezing cold hands and gradually warm up the water. After Angels hands got warm, she got into a warm bath.
My friend who is also a doctor, gave me a neck adjustment to help with the congestion I was experiencing and left to go home to Boise. I started making homemade sourdough bread and put away the clean dishes out of the dishwasher. Angel got out of the bath and ate a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. I got things ready to make a vegetable soup when suddenly I realized what time it was. It was time to leave to go to the homeschool co-op and I was the one doing today’s lesson. I was bringing library books we had checked out that showed how to draw animals. I thought the kids would have fun learning how to draw their favorite animals.
Angel and I quickly got ready to go. Instead of walking the 4 blocks to the community church where we were meeting, I drove us. It was still snowing out and neither Angel or I were up for walking out in the wet cold weather again. Two other moms were already there when we arrived. The kids were excited about drawing animals and got started right away. I sat and drew with them too so I could practice. I want to refine my drawing skills for rock painting. I am excited to get started on rock painting as soon as the rest of our painting supplies arrive in the mail. When I was done drawing, I talked with the other moms for a while. One more mom has shown up so there were 4 moms and 6 kids total. It was a nice, easy going group.
When we arrived home from homeschool co-op, all of the stuff I had gotten out to make vegetable soup was put away. My sister must have come home for lunch and thought I had left a mess out in the kitchen and cleaned it up. I thought about getting everything out again and starting over but I was feeling yucky again and the congestion that had been getting better was now getting worse. I felt called to fast the rest of the day and to not eat anything. Angel played upstairs in her room and I crawled into bed to take a nap. I woke up feeling really cold and couldn’t seem to get warm despite having an electric blanket turned on high. I went downstairs and started a hot bath going. The hot water did the trick and I was feeling warm to the core when I got out.
I went back upstairs and laid down some more. I heard my sister come home from work but I didn’t go downstairs until an hour later when Angel was hungry for dinner. She wanted waffles and while I was cooking them my sister came out of her room. We talked briefly while Angel ate. I told my sister that Angel needed good winter gloves and snow pants. She looked up some on Amazon but they all had bad reviews. I put out a request on a local Facebook page to see if anyone nearby had any extra they would be willing to sell me.
Angel and I got ready for bed early. I read her a Magic Treehouse book and she fell asleep right away before I had even turned on a sleep meditation for her. I went to sleep right away too at around 8 pm.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
