Spur of the Moment Trip to Utah

Tuesday March 12, 2024

Dear Diary,

I woke up at 3:30 AM, I noticed my hands weren’t numb. That told me that B12 was the solution and it wasn’t carpal tunnel. I wrote my blog until 5:30 AM. I started meditating and fell asleep from 5:45 AM and until 6:30 AM. I woke Angel up and we quickly made our beds. I let the chickens out and we went into the house. I greeted Christopher, fed the dogs, made my tea and smoothies. Angel got ready to go and we somehow made it out the door by 7 AM.

One the way to drop Angel off at horse riding camp we listened to a Bobbsey Twins audiobook. I’m glad Angel is liking those books. I’ve been enjoying them as well. I talked to the camp instructors a while when I dropped Angel off and that got me behind schedule. I message my client that I would be later than expected and drove to town.

I arrived at work and my client was fine with me being late. I am grateful to have such wonderful clients. I did a good job cleaning their house and when I was almost finished, I message my next client who is my friend about canceling her cleaning. I had talked to her yesterday and she hadn’t been feeling good. She had wondered if we should cancel her cleaning but I thought it would be ok if I still came. Today though, I got to thinking that it would be best for me to wait until she felt better. After I sent her the message about canceling, she wrote back saying it was probably for the best because she felt pretty bad. I was glad I had made that decision. I did drive over there and drop off a suitcase that she had let me borrow. Her husband met me outside and took it from me and my friend waved from the porch.

Since I had some free time now before my next client, I dropped off a fan to a lady I was donating it to and cleaned the Lutheran church. I love cleaning churches. When I arrived at the church to clean, I received a message from my daughter-in-love Bri saying it was hard for her to ask for help but she really could use my help. My oldest son Shawn broke his ankle in 3 places a few weeks ago and had to undergo extensive surgery to put it back together. He is laid up for 8 weeks and Bri has been doing everything along with working full time. While talking to Shawn yesterday, he told me that Bri is exhausted and overwhelmed. So I sent her a text message asking if she needed me to come there and help out. As soon as I received her reply I started looking at plane tickets to Salt Lake City. I asked her if one week would be enough time and she said it would. I thought about driving there, then I thought more about flying, then went back to thinking about driving. I couldn’t decide which would be best. I couldn’t leave before Saturday because that’s when Angels birthday party is scheduled. So whether I drove or flew, it would have to be next week. So I prayed for guidance and went inside the church and cleaned. By the time I finished cleaning, I had officially decided to fly. I would buy the plane tickets when I got home. I started messaging the clients that I would need to skip and moving some to early next week. I wanted to make as much income as possible before I left. The best plane tickets I could find were from March 20-27. That gave me time to get things done and finish working on the pop-up camper. I was taking the camper to the Frio river on a kayaking trip the day after I would get back from Utah, March 28-30. I was not canceling that trip, I had already reserved our spot at the Garner State Park campground. I had a lot of traveling going on all of a sudden, I had just gotten back from a trip to Tucson and now I was leaving again. Plus at the end of April, I would be going to Idaho to take care of my sister Trisha for two weeks after her ankle replacement surgery. What’s with the ankles lately? I like traveling but usually don’t do this much in a short amount of time. It’s all good though and I’m grateful I am able to go help out my son and daughter-in-love.

When I finished creaking the church, I went to take care of Ms. M. I had decided the other day that I needed to cut back to taking care of her. I will be going from three days a week to two days a week. My schedule is full and my businesses are thriving. It’s works great to take care of Ms. M when I can take her to do the things I’m already doing, like story time and delivering newspapers and the homeschool co-op but to be at her house for 2 hours just cleaning is not working out for me. I need that time to fit in official cleaning clients where I make good money. I can easily keep Ms. M’s house tidy by touching things up when I bring her home from our outings 2 days a week. I wasn’t sure how her husband would take this news but it was a change I needed to make. When I arrived, I told her husband about the schedule change and he took it well. Then I told him I would also be gone a week and he took that well. I was grateful he had been so understanding and willing to accommodate what works for me.

I did some cleaning and then took Ms. M with me to pick up Angel from horse camp. She enjoyed the drive. It is such a beautiful time of year in Texas. Everything went good picking up Angel and she showed me a picture she had painted. We all listened to Bobbsey Twin book on the drive back to town. Ms. M seemed to enjoy listening to the book. I will have to play them for her on a regular basis. I dropped Ms. M off at her house and headed home.

When I arrived home, I greeted Christopher, then got online to buy the plane tickets. It took a really long time. The app kept locking up and the prices kept changing when I’d log back in. I ate a salad for dinner while still attempting to book the flight. Finally I switched to the website and everything went smoothly on there. I booked flights for myself and Angel but I had to talk to someone to add Little Bit. I waited on hold for a long time to talk to someone. Angel had been asking me to jump on the trampoline with her and after waiting and waiting on hold, I set the phone down next to the trampoline and jumped with her and watched her do flips. Then at 6:11 PM I received a text from a coaching client asking if I was busy. I realized that with everything going on I had lost track of the time and had not called my client at our schedule time of 6 PM. I hung up from being on hold and called my client. I apologized for the delay and we had a really good session. I really enjoy coaching, it centers me and all the insights I share with my clients, I receive as well. They are not my insights, the Holy Spirit speaks through me.

When I got off the phone, I decided I was done with dealing with the airline and I would add LittleBit onto the flight tomorrow. We all gathered in the banana hut and I read a chapter from A Wrinkle in Time. While I read, Angel made a necklace with the beads Christopher had given her for her birthday. Then we all said our good nights and went to bed. Angel slept on the trundle bed next to me and we fell asleep around 8:45 PM listening to a Bobbsey Twins audiobook.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I dearly appreciate you.

Love,

Victoria
