Tired and a Long Day

Monday February 26, 2024

Here is a brief recap of the weekend. Angel woke up Saturday morning and said she had a headache and sore throat. Later that morning, she started throwing up and got a fever of 102 F. This went on until Sunday afternoon when she suddenly made a full recovery, ate a bunch of applesauce and went outside to play like nothing happened. This is typical for Angel, she is rarely sick and always recovers quickly.

Monday morning I woke up at 5:30 a.m. when the puppy came in the dog door of the banana hut. The puppy has been sleeping in the house in his pen since he had started getting up in the night, pooping and peeling all over and causing havoc while sleeping with me. Christopher had let the puppy out when he got up and Healer had come straight over to the banana hut in the dog door. I put him back out and locked the dog door. I had taken a late nap early Sunday evening and it messed up my sleep. I had been awake from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. so I wasn’t happy about being woke up early. I didn’t have to start my first cleaning job until 8:30 a.m. and I wanted to sleep a little later. I drifted in and out of sleep until 6:40 a.m. when Christopher came over to see if Angel was still fully recovered and going with me or if he needed to stay home from work. Angel woke up, was perfectly fine and said she wanted to go with me.

We got up and went in the house. I was really tired and wanted more sleep but it was time to get ready to go clean houses. I had a long day ahead of me and wouldn’t be home until 7 p.m. When I was making my smoothies, I realized that I needed to make more juice, so I got started doing that right away. I juiced 5 pineapples and made a gallon and a half of juice. I also made a half gallon of almond milk. By the time I finished juicing and cleaned up, it was time to go. Angel had eaten and gotten ready. We were leaving right on time when Angel noticed a chicken laying on the ground and it looked like it was dead. I picked it up, it was breathing and had a heart beat but it was unresponsive. I laid her on a towel inside of a bin and put her in the banana hut. I figured she would be dead by the time I got home that evening but at least she was safe in the banana hut where the other chickens couldn’t peck at her.

I stopped at Moon Brew when I got to town to get some tea. They had just opened up again and I wanted to stop in and support them. When we arrived, I ordered a tea and wanted to chat with my friends that work but they were busy and I was distracting them from their work. Besides I was tired and cranky and was not saying very nice things. I was surprised at my negative attitude. What in the world was going on with me?

I arrived at my first house to clean and got Angel started on her schoolwork. She was doing multiplications. She had just started learning them and took right to it. She had fun with it and got it done right as I finished up cleaning. At my next house she worked on phonics. She became frustrated and cried and tried to get out of it and cried some more. I slowly walked her through sounding out the words and instead of looking at each letter and sounding them out, she would look at the first couple of letters and then start guessing. I reminded her to look at each letter and sound each one out, then the crying would start again. Finally she calmed down and was able to read all of her lesson and started writing out the words. I don’t know why she fights reading so much, she can do it when she doesn’t fight it. She will have an easier time once she gets more confident in her double letter sounds and breaking up big words into smaller sections. On the other hand, she takes right to math which is the opposite of me when I was a kid. I loved to read and cried over math.

At my 3rd house to clean, she finished up her phonics and looked at a book my clients have that is full of beautiful horse pictures. She is fascinated with horses and kept showing me the pictures. I called Christopher while I was cleaning and asked if he’d checked on the chicken. He said it had died. I figured that would be the case. RIP chicken.

When I finished cleaning that house, I went and picked up a bunch of free produce from a friend. I dropped some of it off to another friend to use and share. Then I went to take care of Ms. M for a couple of hours. When I arrived, her husband went to leave and she followed him out to his truck and got in the passengers seat. He became frustrated and went back in the house. I talked to Ms. M and attempted to convince her to get out of the truck. She absolutely refused. I went back in the house to use the bathroom and talk to her husband. When I came out of the bathroom she had came back in the house. I suggested we go for a walk. She agreed but was mad and kicked her husband in the shin really hard two times. That was the first time, I’d seen her be violent but I know it’s common with Alzheimer’s patients. We left to go for a walk, Angel had been outside playing with the cats and joined us. Ms. M seemed to enjoy the walk and when we got back to the house she watched Bluey on tv with Angel while I cleaned the bathrooms and vacuumed. Then I sat down and ate a salad I had brought with me. I had drank my 2 smoothies earlier throughout the day. I had just finished eating when Ms. M’s husband came home. I asked him how his leg was, he said it had bled some but was ok.

I had an hour of free time before yoga class and Angel was hungry so we went to Gattis pizza. I ate more salad and Angel had salad too. She’s turning into a salad lover like her mom. When we finished eating we went to yoga class. The class was really good and just what I needed. When it was over, I was talking and saying not very nice things again. Oh bother, I needed to quit talking and go home to bed.

We arrived home around 7 p.m. Christopher helped me unload the produce and we fit it all in the fridge. Angel got in the bath that Christopher had ready for us. I got in after she got out. The water was a perfect temperature and I fully relaxed my body for a few minutes, feeling grateful that Christopher had gotten the bath ready for us. When I got out, I went straight to bed. Angel slept on the trundle bed and I fell asleep right away at around 8:30 p.m.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I dearly appreciate you.

Love,

Victoria
