Dear Diary,
I seemed to be frustrated a lot today. In the morning, I was frustrated with Angel for not getting ready to leave on time. We went to Mr. and Mrs. H’s to take Mrs. H to an appointment. Mrs. H wasn’t ready and Mr. H asked me to pull out some stands from a bundle of chair cane. I fought with the cane strands trying to get a few out and instead of patiently and slowly pulling a strand out, I got it all in a tangled mess. I managed to get a few strands out before Mr. H told me that was good enough for now. He can’t see very well but he could tell that I was struggling, maybe my huffing and puffing gave it away 😂.
Mrs. H was late getting ready and we were 5 minutes late getting to her appointment in Fruitland. Then we were told we were in the wrong area. We drove around the building to the side door and we were told we were in the wrong building. We drove to the building next door and found the right door. Then when Mrs. H went to check in, the lady said that she would have to ask if Mrs. H could still be seen since we were 20 minutes late. Mrs. H and I looked at each other to see which one of us was going to demand that she be seen no matter what. Thankfully we didn’t have to. The lady came back and said that Mrs. H could still see the doctor.
While Mrs. H was gone. I walked around the waiting room and came across a vending machine that claimed to promote healthy food choices. The machine was full of chips and candy…I guess their healthy choices keep the doctors in business…SMH.

When Mrs. H finished her doctors appointment we went to a Chinese restaurant to eat. When I pulled up to the restaurant, Mrs. H and I were laughing and carrying on when Angel told us to stop laughing and look over there. I looked where she was pointing and there was an older lady laying on the ground with a couple people standing over her. I ran over to see if they needed help. The people said that the lady had fallen coming out of the store and they had called the ambulance. It was cold out with an icy wind blowing and they asked if I had a blanket. Angel ran and got her blanket out of the truck and I got my extra coat to use as a pillow. Shortly after that, another man brought a heavier blanket and we put it around the lady. She was coherent and talking to us but couldn’t get up and kept saying her shoulder hurt. It seemed to take a long time for the ambulance to arrive but it finally came and they loaded the lady up. Then we all went in the restaurant.
The Chinese restaurant had a buffet and there was only iceberg lettuce for the salad, which was frustrating. So I added steamed rice and steamed vegetables to the lettuce and called it good. After eating, we went to Walmart and made Christmas cards and calendars at the photo kiosk. It was a complicated process and Angel kept pestering me to hurry, so my frustration continued. After finally getting the cards and calendars made, I couldn’t find Mrs. H and we walked the entire store twice as my frustration grew even bigger. It really shows me how the energy I choose to engage in creates more of the same energy. Finally I decided to enjoy being frustrated. I basked in frustration and danced with it. Then it became fun and then funny. It’s difficult to be frustrated at being frustrated when you’re enjoying yourself. So…poof…suddenly I was having a great time.
We found Mrs. H in the clothing section and she still had some more shopping she wanted to do. I thought we would never get out of Walmart and I found that thought to be hilarious. Stuck in Walmart forever wouldn’t be so bad. You’d have everything you need and more. It would be like living in a mansion full of a bunch of stuff with no rooms. You could move the isles around to create rooms. Set up beds in the bedroom, make a kitchen and cook for Angel with a skillet… there’s microwaves but I don’t use microwaves. There would be an abundance of produce for me to thrive on. The living room furniture could be set up. The bathrooms would be huge with plenty of toilets to choose from and you could hook up a shower head to the sink with the tools from the tool section. Oh boy…I was having way too much fun now!
We didn’t get stuck in Walmart forever though and we eventually found our way out. After a couple of stops on the way home to Mrs. H’s, we made it back. I pulled out a couple more strands of chair cane for Mr. H and it was way easier to get untangled when I was calm about the process.
I headed home and stopped to check on the chickens at my friend TJ’s. I had forgotten to get tortillas for Angel after all that time in Walmart, so I got some at Dollar General and went home. I started a fire in the wood stove and it wouldn’t stay lit for some reason. Frustration returned and I basked in its energy once again. Hello frustration…welcome. It didn’t like being seen and ran away…oh well. Angel took a bath and we went to bed. I wrote my blog notes and went to sleep at around 10:30 PM.

Dear Diary,
We finally got snow! I was supposed to take Mrs. H to the dentist in Weiser but she canceled her appointment and I’m really glad she did because the highway ended up being a mess with semi-truck and cars sliding off the highway on Midvale hill south of Council. The same was happening north on Fort Hall hill. I was happy to stay put.
I didn’t have any obligations early in the morning and it was nice to sleep in until 8:30 am. Angel woke up right after I did. I was still lying in bed when she came in, appalled that her breakfast wasn’t ready. I got up and made her breakfast. Then I went and got Mrs. H and we went to the thrift store. We were there for hours and I think I bought half the store.

After eating dinner, I took Mrs. H home and checked on the chickens at my friend TJ’s. I put away all my thrift store purchases and filled up a box of stuff to donate back to them. I walked to jujitsu and watched Angel at the end of her practice. Back at home, Angel took a bath. Then I read to her a chapter from Arctic Adventure and we went to sleep at around 10:30 PM.

Dear Diary,
The morning started out good but by the afternoon I was tired from not getting enough sleep and not eating well. I went to the gym and talked to a personal trainer about joining. It was all good until he said that he would be doing an assessment to get me started, where we would cover my goals and my diet. I immediately lost interest, I do not want to be pressured to eat a “high protein diet” and not follow my inner guidance. I know what foods are best for me in any given moment, it doesn’t mean I always follow that guidance but at this point in my life, I am not interested in being pressured in anyway to eat what other people THINK I need to be eating. I don’t tell other people what to eat anymore and I don’t want them telling me. We all know what diet is best for us if we pay attention to our inner guidance. We don’t need others to tell us.

After jujitsu, Angel went to friends house and I dragged through the afternoon, needing a nap but I had people counting on me. I took Mrs. H to a hair appointment in Midvale to get her hair dyed. Then I drove down to Walmart in Ontario to pick up the Christmas cards and calendars I had made at the photo kiosk the other day. Walmart was insanely busy and Mr. frustration came to visit again. I didn’t welcome him, claiming to be too tired and he pestered me while trying to find a parking space, while trying to get to the back of the store to the photo area, while trying to get back out of the parking lot, while driving back up to Midvale, thinking I was late to pick up Mrs. H.
When I arrived at the beauty salon, Mrs. H wasn’t finished yet and I was really grateful to not be late. Now I was really hungry though, and I was feeling extremely dramatic about that. It seemed to take forever for Mrs. H‘s hair to be done and then we had to go pick up some grain for Mr. H to feed the quail. Mrs. H noticed that I was a little cranky and I told her I was tired and hungry. Finally, after getting the grain, we went to the little café in Midvale where they have an amazing salad bar and I had a huge salad. I felt much better after that. Mrs. H bought me a t-shirt in the cafe’s little store that I was looking at and I love it.

I took Mrs. H home, then I checked on the chickens at my friend TJ’s. When I pulled up to my house all the rounds of wood I had stacked at the end of the carport had been split for me. My friend Chad had messaged me earlier telling me he had done that and I was really grateful. Even though I felt bone tired, I started stacking the wood. I finally finished at around 11 PM. I started a fire in the woodstove and took a long hot bath. I went to bed and read some of my book called The Sound of Glass. I don’t know when I fell asleep, but it was sometime after midnight.

Dear Diary,
Mr. frustration came to visit me again, first thing in the morning, after talking to Mrs. H and my friend Mrs. L on the phone. I got out my Christmas cards that I had made at the photo kiosk at Walmart and the package did not contain the envelopes that are supposed to come with the cards. I started cussing and swearing… “Walmart this and Walmart that and Walmart can kiss this, and Walmart can suck that”. Then I got bundled up and walked to Dollar General to buy some “blankety-blank” envelopes. At Dollar General, a friend of mine was working there and after not being able to find envelopes the right size I asked her if they had any. She said that they didn’t. They only had envelopes that would work for letters, but she suggested I ask the manager because sometimes they got extra envelopes with their card stock when it came. I found the manager and asked her. She said she would look and opened up the shelves where the cards are stored. There was a stack of red envelopes that were the perfect size for my Christmas cards and she gave them to me for free. I was delighted and I thanked her. I told her that I could now stop swearing, and we laughed.
When I got back home, I filled out the Christmas cards and put them in their envelopes. I walked to the post office and sent off the cards that go to people that live out of town. On the way home I stopped at the thrift store and once again bought half of the store. To get the stuff home, I had the ladies at the thrift store hold it for me while I went and got my four wheeler. After dropping my stuff off at home, I rode around town and dropped off Christmas cards to people. That was great fun.
Then I clean the assembly of God church and the bank. Angel had friends over and I fed them dinner. After that, I checked on the chickens at my friend TJ‘s and got the kids in bed for a sleepover. I went to bed myself and read a few chapters of my book before going to sleep at around 10:30 PM.

Dear Diary,
The weather was slushy today. It was rainy and snowy all day. I rescheduled an organizing opportunity I had in McCall because I didn’t want you drive through the canyon with it snowing and raining. Later in the day, I did end up going to Mundo hot springs. The highway was clear but the side roads were slushy. I’m really impressed at how good my little truck does in the slush and snow. It’s an all-wheel-drive ford Maverick and it’s so easy to drive. I’m grateful to have a reliable vehicle.

In the morning, I fed the kids breakfast and Angels friends went home. We walked to church and when I got there, my tithe money wasn’t in my pocket. I retraced my steps back home, which is only a block away and found it on the ground in front of the porch steps. I really enjoyed the singing at church. I missed the sermon because I did children’s church for the younger kids. I would like to not do children’s church anymore but pastor Amy hasn’t found a replacement for me yet. So I’ll choose to be ok missing the sermons until then.
After church and before going to the hot springs, I got out some of the Christmas gifts I had bought throughout the year and wrapped them. It’s my only day off before Christmas and it felt good to get it done, plus it was fun.
Angel was going to go to the hot springs with me but she decided she wanted to go to my older sisters instead. I was happy to have some alone time and listened to a talk by Jefferson Fisher on the drive. I’ve been enjoying his podcasts on YouTube lately. He’s got great tips on communication skills and I love me some good communication 😂.
The hot springs was not busy at all, there was only a young couple with their 3 young kids there and me. I did a lot of stretching and floated on my back, fully relaxing my body. I stayed at the hot springs for an hour, then I went into Cambridge to the Chinese restaurant and ordered steamed rice with steamed vegetables. I was the only one there and the owner Li was making the move on me and kept trying to hold my hand. I thought this was a great opportunity to practice communication skills except he couldn’t understand most of what I was saying and I think “friends only” meant something different to him…such as “friends with benefits” 😂. I was grateful when he got a call for an order to go and went off into the kitchen. I finished eating, quickly paid and skedaddled out of there.
On my way home, I stopped at Mr. and Mrs. H’s and dropped off their Christmas presents. I played a games of cribbage with Mr. H and it was a lot of fun. Then I asked if they wanted to open their presents now. They said sure and I was so excited about what I had gotten them that I was squealing as they were opening them. Sometimes giving is BETTER than receiving. They liked what I got them as I knew they would.
When I got to Council, I checked on the chickens at my friend TJ’s. One chicken was dead. It looked like her uterus had prolapsed and the other chickens had pecked her. I took care of the body and collected the eggs. Then I went home, where Angel had arrived before me. I made her dinner and got a fire going in the wood stove. I read Angel 2 chapters from Arctic Adventure and she took a bath while I talked on the phone to friend in Portland.
After getting off the phone, I hung clean laundry on the line in the living room to dry and we went to bed. I jumped 200 jumps on the reminder and read a couple chapter from a book I’ve been reading called The Sound of Glass. I went to sleep at around 10:30 PM.

Dear Diary,
All was good today until I ate a really small piece of homemade banana bread. I instantly felt like I was poisoned. My energy dropped and I became so tired I felt like I could fall asleep instantly if I closed my eyes. Wow, what a difference in how I felt before I ate the banana bread when I was feeling cheerful and vibrant. Wow, wow, wow, I’m enjoying keeping track of what I eat and how I feel. It’s nice to see a visual record.
I cleaned Pastor Amy’s house in the morning and after that I worked for a lady cleaning her walls in the living room. Then I helped out Mr. and Mrs. H for a few hours. When I got home, I cleaned the bank and stopped by my older sisters. My younger sister and niece were there. We talked for a while, then I walked home and jumped on my new rebounder that I had gotten at the thrift store yesterday. It was brand new in the box and I got it for five dollars.

I read to Angel a couple chapters from Arctic Adventure. We went to bed and I read a couple chapters from my book and went to sleep at around 10:30 PM.

Dear Diary,
The highlight of today was the Christmas Eve service at the Nazarene church. I went and picked up Mr. and Mrs. H and brought them to enjoy it. They really appreciated it and thought it was a nice service.

Early that morning, I woke up at 4 AM and wasn’t able to go back to sleep. I read and jumped in the rebounder. At 8 AM, I helped stack wood for an older man who has trouble getting around. Then I did a cleaning opportunity for a client and bought his groceries for him. It was great fun at the M&W grocery store. It was busy, but since I know so many people in town, it was social hour. I even saw my older sister there.
I started a pet sitting opportunity for a friend where I checked on the dogs at noon, 5 PM and 8 PM. It was a lot to fit all that pet sitting in between cleaning clients and the Christmas Eve service, but I managed to do it along with my usual checking on the chickens every evening.

Before bed, I let Angel open up one present. She chose to open the present that Christopher, her dad, had sent from Texas. It was a rock tumbler (he didn’t blow wet already have one) and some cash and a letter he wrote. She cried when she read the letter and I told her she could use my phone to call him, but he didn’t answer. I read her a couple chapters from Arctic Adventure. Then I jumped on the rebounder 300 jumps and we went to bed. I fell asleep right away at 10:30 PM.

Dear Diary,
Merry Christmas! Once again, I woke up at 4 AM and wasn’t able to go back to sleep. I spent the morning wrapping presents and wrapping presents and wrapping presents for Angel. Angel woke up at around 8 AM right after I got back from doing my dog sitting opportunity. I gave her the choice to eat breakfast first or open presents first. She chose breakfast and after she ate, she opened all her presents. I let her take her time opening them. She would open one and play with it a while before going to the next one. It took all morning and it was a lot of fun watching her.

After she opened all her presents, I did my Pet Sitting opportunity. Then I made pineapple/pear juice. I also made a big salad and mashed potatoes for our family Christmas potluck dinner that I was hosting at my house. A friend stopped by and I gave her a gift I had for her and we talked for a while until my family started showing up.

It was great fun hosting Christmas at my house. There were eight people and I wasn’t sure if I could fit everyone in my little living room, but we all managed to fit and it was nice and cozy. We opened up presents first before eating and it took a really long time. By the time we finished opening presents, everyone was plenty hungry. I ate a big salad and some of my homemade mashed potatoes (because I knew what was in them) and a small amount of steamed rice. I did have a small piece of fudge and a tiny tiny slice of cheesecake but otherwise I ate really well and was very proud of myself for not gorging on foods that I would regret eating later.

When everyone left, I did my Pet Sitting opportunity and then Angel had some friends over to stay the night. The kids wanted to set up a fort in the living room and I helped out by taking down one of the Christmas trees and setting up chairs for them to drape blankets over. I fed the kids dinner and cleaned up the kitchen. I did my Pet Sitting opportunity for the last time and read my book for a while. Then I jumped on the rebounder and went to bed. The kids were really hyper and I could hear them in the other room, not going to sleep. I kept reminding them to go to sleep, but they were still awake when I finally drifted off at around 11 PM.

Dear Diary,
After sleeping in until 8 AM, which was heavenly, the rest of the morning was spent cleaning up the living room fort and putting away all the Christmas decorations. Yay, Christmas was all done. I had the kids all clean Angel‘s room, which took a really long time, but they finally got it done. Then the kids went to their house along with Angel.
I rode the four to the coffee shop and the grocery store and my sisters. I’m amazed at how warm it was out considering it is the end of December. In the afternoon, I went to Mr. and Mrs. H’s. Mrs. H had overdone things yesterday and was not feeling good. I stayed there five hours helping get the house ready for some of their family coming to visit tomorrow. It was a lot of fun and Mrs. H felt much better by the time I left. Mr. H had a good time with the pups sitting on his lap. He loves Little Bit and Tiny Boy.

When I got back to town, I went to Angel‘s friends house to pick her up and one of her friends came over to stay the night. I fed them dinner and they took a bath. I wrote some of my blog, I had gotten way behind again and now I was determined to get caught up. I washed some laundry and hung it up. Then the kids and I went to bed after I jumped on the rebounder. I read some of my book and we went to sleep at around 10:30 PM.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
P. S. I’m all caught up!
