Nov. 21-25: Fever, Mountains, Chicken Coop, Kuna Cave and more…

November 21, 2025

Morning prayer:

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for fire.
  • Thank you for folk dance.
  • Thank you for community.
  • Thank you for love.

I love you!

Today’s goals:

  • Read one chapter.
  • Complete gym membership.
  • Make juice.

Dear Diary,

Angel woke up saying that her head felt dizzy. I checked her and she felt feverish. After taking her temperature and confirming that she had a 101° temperature, I sent her back to bed and I canceled my cleaning opportunities.

I was glad to be staying home because I wasn’t feeling good either. My mind was cloudy with depressing negative thoughts and my body was inflamed and hurting. I had been easily eating really clean and healthy the past few weeks but then yesterday at the homeschool skate party potluck, I had eaten some food that was processed. I immediately regretted it and had a stomachache the rest of the day. Then this morning my body and mind were still suffering from the side effects.

Angel and I rested and read all morning, then I decided a drive up in the mountains would do us both some good. After a quick trip to the thrift store where I got a plug in Christmas tree that we set up, we headed up the mountain.

We went over by N. Hornet creek. I thought I hadn’t been there before but then I remembered that I had when I saw familiar landmarks. We listened to an audiobook on the drive and it felt so good being out and about in the mountains. I stopped a couple of times and let the dogs run, which they were super excited about.

After getting home, Angel took a bath. Her fever had gone down to 99.8° and she said she was starting to feel better. I was feeling better too. I ate salad for dinner and Angel ate fruit. We went to bed early and Angel went to sleep right away. I wasted time scrolling on my phone rather than being productive and completing my goals which I had done non of. All that scrolling started to make me feel yucky and nauseous, so I turned off the phone and went to sleep at around 10 PM.

Morning prayer:

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for 4-wheelers.
  • Thank you for friends.
  • Thank you for opportunities.
  • Thank you for love.

I love you!

Today’s goals:

  • make juice
  • Read a chapter
  • Clean at the store for 2 hours

Dear Diary,

Angel woke up fully recovered from her fever. I was also feeling better from my food hangover. I had canceled an organizing opportunity yesterday when Angel was sick and it’s good I did because I still had a full day of cleaning. I cleaned the church, the bank and worked on getting an old store cleaned. Working on the store was one of my goals that I completed. Yay!  I got a big chunk of the store finished and that felt good. I have some windows to finish up and the really dirty floors to clean, then I’m done with that job.

Other things that happened today were: a visit to the thrift store and I talked to my friend Sarah from Texas on the phone in the evening. Angels friend stayed the night and they had a slumber party in the living room. We cut out snowflakes, which Angel hadn’t done before. We made a big mess with little pieces of paper everywhere. It was fun picking them all up and putting them in the fire and the snowflakes turned out cute.

After eating dinner, the girls set up their sleeping area and we all went to bed. I read a chapter from a Patrick McMannus book (another goal completed) and went to sleep at around 10 PM. I still didn’t get juice made but it will happen…. someday.

Morning prayer:

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for blankets.
  • Thank you for Angel.
  • Thank you for sunshine.
  • Thank you for love.

I love you!

Today’s goals:

  • make juice.
  • Read one chapter.
  • Go on a walk.

Dear Diary,

Angels friend stayed overnight and the girls were wide awake and hungry in the morning. I made them healthy waffles for breakfast and they worked on projects in the craft room. Since they had scattered Angels blankets all over the living room, I thought it would be a good time to wash them all and put clean sheets on Angels bed. It was tricky getting all the blankets to fit on the indoor clothesline after they were washed and Angel asked me why I didn’t use the dryer instead. Good question! I thought about why and the first thing that came to mind was the cost of electricity using the dryer. My power bill tends to double in cost when using a dryer but that reason wasn’t why I hang dry the laundry. There’s a part of me that loves seeing my laundry drying on the line, I love the crispy feel of line dried laundry and the smell and….it warms my heart for some reason.

I took a bath before church and when I got out, Angels friend had gone home. We walked to church (I got my walk in) and I greeted people before the service started. I told pastor Amy’s husband about fixing my kitchen faucet this morning. When I first installed the faucet, it got clogged with debris and water barely trickled out of it. He had taken the faucet home and blew the debris out with his air compressor. The faucet worked great after that but then I noticed that the water coming out kept getting less and less. This morning, water was barely coming out. I didn’t want to remove the faucet to get it blown out again, so I found a skinny cable, unhooked the connection to the faucet hose underneath the sink and ran the cable through it. It didn’t help but I that didn’t make sense to me, so I ran the cable through a few more times and then it did work. The kitchen faucet has more water running out of it than it ever did before. Yay!

At church, I did children’s church for the toddler’s which there was only one kid. We watched a video on manners. I asked pastor Amy before church is she could find someone else to take over the toddlers. I would rather hear the sermon and have a break from kids on Sunday mornings. She said she would find someone and I suggested someone that I thought would be a good fit.

After walking home from church, I hooked up the trailer and we drove to McCall to pick up a chicken coop. When we got there, the guy selling the coop and his friend helped me get the coop onto the trailer, which was a blessing because I would not have been able to do it on my own. Even with the two men helping, they had to use wooden planks and a wench to get it on there. That is a heavy chicken coop! We got it strapped on and the man refused to let me pay him for the coop. I thanked him, he had gone above and beyond by helping me get the coop loaded and then gave it to me for free. Wow!

On the drive home we were going to stop at Zims and swim for a while but I had to pull over a couple of times to re-secure the chicken coop on the trailer after a strap broke, then the roof needed a strap when I noticed the wind lifting it and I just wanted to get the coop home before dark.

It was good that we didn’t go to Zims because Mrs. H called me and asked if I could come over to their place and help look for something important that she couldn’t seem to find. We were in New Meadows when she called and I told her that as soon as I got home and unlocked the trailer, I would be there.

We made it home and I was glad we got there coop there safely. I unhooked the trailer and headed out to Mr. and Mrs. H’s to help look for something. Mrs. H and I searched throughly upstairs. I went through every box in the storage room and finally we found what we were looking for in the top of the guest room closet. It was missing pieces though and after searching some more for the missing pieces we gave up and Mrs. H will call the company and see about getting replacement parts.

On the drive home, we saw a badger walking along the side of the road. I stopped to take a picture from inside the truck, I wasn’t about to get out. The badger glared at the truck as if it wanted to fight it but he changed his mind and ran off down the hill.

At home, I made dinner and we played a couple games of Sorry which I call Sorry not sorry. Then Angel took a bath while I built up the fire and folded up all the clean blankets. When she got out, I read the last chapter of Runaway Ralph and Angel read one of her storybooks to me.

We went to bed and I went to sleep at around 10 PM. I had accomplished one of my daily goals. Someday I’ll get that juice made 😂.

  • Thank you for patience.
  • Thank you for music.
  • Thank you for love.

Today’s Goals:

  • Eat Healthy
  • Read one chapter
  • Hug 5 people

Dear Diary,

When I woke up in the middle of the night, I figured out a way to get Mailchimp to send out emails to my subscribers when I write new blog posts. I can do it manually. It took me 3 hours to understand how to do it manually, but I did it! How to get emails to send out automatically is still a mystery to be solved.

Ok, let’s talk about today’s goals. I forgot about hugging 5 people and I hugged 2 people that I can remember, Angel and Mrs. H. I ate healthy, so I can check that one off. I did not read one chapter of anything. Angel didn’t want story time tonight. There’s still the possibility of competing that goal before I go to sleep.

I had an impromptu adventure today. Angel and I went to Kuna caves. It’s been redecorated since I was there last. There is now an upside down wrecked car blocking part of the hole that goes down into the cave. The car looks like it was possibly part of a drunken car demolition party at one time. There were 3 teenage girls hanging out in front of the car. I asked them if they knew the story behind how the car got there but they didn’t know anything about it. There was also 2 men there rappelling down the hole to the bottom. I went down the ladder to the bottom of the cave. Angel started to follow me down but changed her mind. Me telling her to face her fears didn’t persuaded her in anyway to climb down that ladder. She’s climbed down it before when I took her to Kuna cave a couple of years ago but she wouldn’t do it now. No matter, I climbed back up and drove the truck down a very rough dirt road. When I was a good distance away from the cave, I got out to pee between 2 large sagebrush. Just as I started going pee, a compact car suddenly came around the corner bumping over the rough road that had huge holes and ruts and lava rocks. Where in the world did that car come from and why was it on this crazy rough road? It’s the high desert out there and you can see for miles and I did not see a car anywhere when I stopped the truck and got out. When I saw the car, I quickly pulled up my pants but the problem was, I was still going pee. Ack! Luckily it wasn’t much and there was nothing I could do about it. I got in the truck, the car was blocking my way forward so I turned off the road and drove slowly, bumping through the sagebrush until I came to another bumpy dirt road. Bumpity bumpity, I slowly made it to the paved road and we headed back into the metropolis of Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Star, Kuna, Middleton, Nampa, Caldwell. Those all were separate towns and cities when I was a kid…now they are one big cesspool….I mean conglomeration.

Earlier I drove Mrs. H to get an ablation procedure in Meridian. We got back to the surgery center right when she was supposed to be done. When I went inside, I was told it would be a while longer. I took T-boy for a walk (Little Bit stayed with Mr. H to keep him company) and we weren’t gone long when I got a message that Mrs. H was finished. I went inside and Mrs. H was still coming off the anesthesia. I joked with her and got her talking and it didn’t take long before she was feeling ready to go.

By the time we got to Mrs. H’s house, it was 8:30 PM. I made sure she would be ok with just her and Mr. H there overnight and to have them call if they needed anything. Then we went home. I built up the fire and closed the curtains. Sweetie Alabama and I walked to the bank. I cleaned while Sweetie waited for me outside. When we got home, I started laundry and took a bath. I opened an Amazon package that arrived earlier and it was a heat activated oscillating fan for the wood stove. I set it up and it didn’t take long before it got hot enough to start working. It worked great too!

When the laundry finished washing, I hung it up on the inside clothesline. In the morning the clothes will be dry and I’ll put it all away. Angel went to bed and didn’t want a story. I went to bed and cuddled up with the dogs and wrote my blog. I went to sleep late, at midnight.

Dear Diary,

Today’s highlight was getting a chair massage from a friend. That massage felt amazing. I received the massage at the library and afterward I stuck around and helped finish a puzzle.

Earlier that day, I visited with a friend and vacuumed her house for her. Then I cleaned a house out in Goodrich while Angel did her schoolwork. When I finished, I stopped by Mr. and Mrs. H’s to check on them and help Mrs. H remove bandages she had on from the procedure she got yesterday.

The evening was spent vacuuming the house. Then I talked to a friend I hadn’t talked to in years. He has also moved to the mountains near Idaho city which is quite a ways from Council. We had a great conversation and are both on the same page when it comes to understanding that everything is energy and we get to choose the energy we create in our lives.

When I got off the phone, I read a chapter from Ralph S. Mouse. Then Angel and I took a bath together and went to bed. I started to scroll and stopped myself. I turned off my phone and went to sleep at 10 PM. I completed 2 of my goals today but making that juice is still not done. Sheesh 😂.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you!

Love, Victoria
