Morning Prayer:
Good morning God,
- Thank you for this day
- Thank you for adventures
- Thank you for farm sitting
- Thank you for rivers
- Thank you for love
I love you!
Dear Diary,
I woke at 5 AM. I let the puppy out to use the bathroom and wrote my blog. I wrote three days worth of blog posts and got all the way caught up. At 7 AM I went outside to let the sheep and ducks out and feed the ferrets. Then I let the big dogs out to run for a while and started Angel‘s breakfast cooking. I let the dogs back in and fed them and the puppy. Then I woke Angel up to eat her breakfast and we got ready to go.
When we arrived home, I made Angel lunch and packed up a cooler to take on an adventure. Aaron, Angel and I are going to the salmon River to play and explore today. Aaron arrived just before 9 AM, we packed up the truck and hearted (headed) out.
We took my truck this time and I drove part of the way. Right before we arrived in Riggins, we turned off onto Big Salmon road and followed the Lower Salmon River 54 miles until the road ended at Vinegar creek boat ramp. The canyon was absolutely beautiful. We stopped several times to look at rocks and plants. We came to a walking bridge called Wind River Bridge. The bridge is part of the Centennial trail. Angel and I walked across it and back. There was a hawk with a nest at the beginning of the bridge. She wanted us gone and made sure we knew that.

I asked Aaron to drive the rest of the way because I wanted to look out the windows and soak in all I could see. When we arrived at the end of the road where the Vinegar creek boat ramp is, we found some great rocks. There were a lot of quartz and colorful stones.
On the drive back we didn’t stop as much but I looked and looked out the windows to see all I could. I was hoping to see some elk or a bear or even a mountain lion but all I saw was a herd of deer. The Salmon river was high and muddy and covered almost all of the great beaches. Island campground was inaccessible and there was one lone camper stranded out there.
When we got to Riggins, I asked if we could drive through town. Aaron was all for it. We stopped at a gift shop that I had been to before and I showed Aaron the wood carved snakes and ladders game that I bought there a couple of years ago when I was visiting from Texas. Next, we stopped at the thrift store, I found a few things I liked and went up to the cash register to pay. The lady in line in front of me went to pay for her items with a credit card not realizing that they only took cash. When she was told that they accepted cash only, she said she didn’t have any on her and would go to an atm and be back. I told her that I would pay for her items. She gratefully accepted and thanked me over and over.
On the way home from Riggins. We stopped at my farm sitting opportunity and switched the dogs. When we arrived home, Aaron left to go to his house and I made dinner for myself and Angel.
Angel rode her bicycle to girls club and I stayed home. I cleaned the apartment and drove my truck down the highway with all the windows down to blow out all the dog hair that had accumulated on our adventure. Aaron has 2 medium small dogs named Blitz and Buster. They are great dogs and they love going on adventures.
I took a long hot shower and laid on the daybed writing out my blog notes until Angel got home. We went out to my farm sitting opportunity and did all the evening chores of feeding the animals and putting them to bed. Then I read Angel one chapter of Ranger in Time and put on a sleep meditation. We went to sleep at around 10 PM.

- Thank you for Aaron.
- Thank you for play.
- Thank you for love.

Dear Diary,
I am lying on the daybed waiting for Angel to get out of the shower. It has been a fairly busy day. I awoke in the night at 2 AM. I wrote some of my blog but became too tired to finish it. I slept more and awoke again at 7 AM. I let the puppy and Bit out, then switched the dogs. Puppy and Bit came in and the big dogs went out. I let out the ducks, fed them, checked their water and collected their eggs. Then I let out the sheep and fed the ferrets. I went inside and fed the puppy, turned on the fish’s light and checked the birds food and water.
I cooked Angels breakfast and made myself tea. Angel woke up, ate and fed the fish while I watered the plants. I let the ferrets run around the house with Angel while I let the big dogs in and put the puppy in her outside kennel. Then we put the ferrets away and got ready to leave to go to town. We went to our apartment where I made Angel lunch. I packed up her lunch and leftover smoothie for myself and we went to a cleaning opportunity.
I enjoyed cleaning while Angel did her schoolwork. I cleaned a house and an RV on the same property. Then I drove down the road to talk to one of my clients friends about pet sitting and cleaning for her. She said she needed someone to stay with her dog Saturday night. That was perfect because I was finishing my current farm sitting on Friday night and starting my next overnight pet sitting Sunday night. I put her on my schedule and also put her down for a once a month cleaning.
When we arrived home, Angel rode her bicycle around and I laid down to rest for a while. Angel came in from riding her bicycle and was hungry. I made her dinner and she left for play practice. I walked over and cleaned the bank. After cleaning, I took a shower and Angel got back from practice.
We went out to my farm sitting opportunity and hung out with the animals until it was time to feed everyone and put them to bed. I read Angel a chapter of Ranger in Time and put on a sleep meditation. We drifted off to sleep at around 9:30 PM.

Morning Prayer:
Good morning God,
- Thank you for this day.
- Thank you for wind.
- Thank you for sheep.
- Thank you for love.
I love you!
Dear Diary,
It has been a day filled with a variety of activities. I started off the morning at 7 AM, doing the morning farm chores and making Angel breakfast. After Angel ate, we let the ferrets run around the house. Angel had fun playing with them and moved their tube that they like to play in all around the front room.
I sat on the couch watching them and writing my blog. A little later in the morning, we went to town. Angel took our compost over to my friend Camille’s, while I talked to Aaron on the phone. I got off the phone shortly after Angel got home and we went over to Aaron’s to work on her bicycle. Angel rode over to Aaron’s while I walked another one of her bicycles over there. She has 3 bicycles and we planned on using parts off of the spare bicycles to improve the one she rides all the time. Her 3rd bicycle Aaron had in his storage and he had it out when we arrived.
Aaron worked in her brake while I replaced her back tire with a better one off of a spare bicycle. It was great fun working as a team and we got her bicycle running good in no time. We went home and I drove to my farm sitting opportunity to switch the dogs and check on the animals.
When we got back to town, I walked to the thrift store and the grocery store and the library. At the library, I printed out some forms I needed to get my Idaho drivers license. I now officially had everything I needed. I also wanted to get Angel an ID card since her passport has expired and she needs to have an ID to fly to Texas, which she will be doing next month.
We drove over to the DMV and I did indeed have all the paperwork I needed, now I just had to pass the written test. I sat down to take the test and started off by getting the first question wrong. I could only get 6 wrong out of 40 questions. I ended up hitting number 6 with five questions left to answer. I couldn’t miss any of those 5 or I would have to take the test again after a waiting period of three days. I breezed through the last 5 questions and passed the test. Yay!! My Idaho license will be coming in the mail in a couple of weeks. As soon as it arrives, I can get Angel her ID card.
Shortly after we got home, my older sister came by to pick us up to go morel mushroom hunting. We drove up the middle fork of the Weiser river and found a lot of mushrooms but none of them were morels. We stopped at several places to look but gave up when it started getting late and I wanted to get back to my farm sitting opportunity to take care of the animals.

At my farm sitting opportunity, I let the puppy out of her kennel and put her in the house with Bits. Then I let the big dogs out and let them run around while I did the outside chores. Angel feed the ferrets while I put the ducks away and fed them. Then I fed the cat and fed the sheep and put them away. I let the big dogs in and fed them and the puppy.
Suddenly I noticed that something was wrong with Bits. Angel told me that Bits had gotten out when I was taking care of the sheep and one of the big dogs had attacked him but she got him away and put him in the house. The people I am farm sitting for told to me keep Bits and the Puppy away from the other dogs and that had been easy to do because they come in and out separate doors.
I ran over and picked Bits up and noticed he was bleeding on his side and that side was all puffed up. I washed him off in the sink and looked him over. He had a deep hole on his side right behind his front leg but I couldn’t see any other injuries. What concerned me is that the side with the hole in it kept puffing up and getting full of air under the skin and his breathing didn’t sound right. I called my sister to get some advice but she didn’t know what to do and said the nearest emergency vet was in Weiser. I then called Aaron and he came out to look at Bits. He suggested that we wrap his side and said that the vet here in Council (who is also the mayor) does emergency calls. I called the emergency number and the vet said he would meet us at the clinic.
I held Bits while Aaron drove us to the clinic. When we arrived, Angel walked a block to my sisters to stay the night. Aaron and I went inside the clinic with Bits, the vet looked him over and said that Bits had a punctured lung and would need surgery but he needed to get him calmed down and stabilized first. He gave Bits a couple of shots and said to check back tomorrow. Then he picked Bits up and took him in the back room. I stood there while Bits looked at me as he was taken away. My heart was broken, I knew Bits would be sad without me and I didn’t want to leave him. Behind me I heard Aaron say, that’s got to be hard as I stared at the door Bits had gone through.
Aaron drove us back to my farm sitting house. He said that he would be praying for Bits and gave me a hug. I thanked him for all of his help and got into bed. My mind was racing and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to sleep. I prayed for Bits and put on a sleep meditation and finally drifted to sleep at around 11:30 PM.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
