Dear Diary,
I woke up at 11:45 PM. I wrote my blog until 3 AM. I fell asleep again until 7 AM. I let the chickens out. Then I made tea and sat on the front porch to watch the sunrise. I finished editing my blog and posted it. Tracey joined me on the front porch and thanked me for everything. I thanked him too. We watched the sunrise and Tracey started packing up his stuff and putting it in the truck. I woke Angel up and stripped the bedding to take to Trish’s and wash it. I fed Angel bread with honey for breakfast and made a smoothie for myself. My smoothie had 9 bananas, fresh almond milk and fresh pineapple juice smoothie.
We all got in the truck and hearted (headed) to my friend Brett’s in McCall. Brett has a car he is selling that Tracey wants to look. He might buy it to drive back to Texas. On the way, we stopped at Trish’s to start laundry. Then we stopped at the coffee shop, where I got a chai tea and an Angel got a hot chocolate. The drive to Brett’s was beautiful. The mountains have amazing energy. We listened to uplifting music and Angel entertained us by talking and talking.
When we arrived at Brett’s, he took us on a drive to the Payette River so that Tracey could test drive the car. True to Brett style, he took us on a crazy road that was more suited for a 4 wheel drive vehicle rather than a car. He’s a character! He drove easily over the rugged road knowing exactly where the smoothest places were. The car he was selling was at the end of its life with 350 thousand miles on it but he honestly told Tracey everything that was wrong with it, including the clutch was about to go out. We finally arrived at the river. I walked down to the water and waded in it briefly. It was cold and crystal clear. It felt amazing.
Tracey test drove the car back to Brett’s house and did great going over the rough road. He said he would buy it. Brett and Tracey went downstairs to complete the paperwork while Angel and I stayed upstairs with Brett’s mom and visited with her. She’s a really neat lady. Angel colored her a picture and we had a good talk. When the paperwork was all finished, Tracey packed all of his things in the car and we hugged goodbye. Then he left to go back to Texas. Brett said that he hopes the car makes it. He sold it to Tracey for $800 since it was on its last leg. Angel was upset and said that she couldn’t believe that Tracey didn’t even tell her goodbye. I messaged him about Angel and he wrote back: I’m sorry Angel, I love you. I read it to her but she was still upset. I suggested that we go look at Brett and his mom’s garden. We walked a little ways down the hill behind the house. The view was absolutely beautiful. We looked at the garden. Brett had put a solar powered electric fence around the garden to keep the deer out. Angel asked a lot of questions about the electric fence and Brett showed her how to test if it was on by holding a plant up to it. Angel tried it and dropped the plant when she got a little shock. She wanted me to try it but I wasn’t interested in getting shocked in anyway. 😂
Brett went with us into McCall to go thrift store shopping. We chatted on the way about going to the hot springs we had hiked into the other day but staying longer. Brett had wanted to stay longer too and so did Angel. We had all left because Tracey was leaving and the unspoken rule of hiking in the mountains together is to stay together. You come in together and you leave together. I still have no idea why Tracey wanted to leave so soon. He didn’t say when I asked him. Maybe it’s because I wanted to go off by myself and do some writing and I wasn’t paying attention to him. Regardless of why, next time I go, I will stay a lot longer and make sure everyone is in agreement with that before hand.
We stopped at Natural Grocer, before going thrifting, so that I could stock up on produce. Natural Grocer was great and I have a feeling I will be going there a lot when I move up here. Angel was hungry so after getting groceries we stopped and got something to eat. I ordered an açaí bowl with fresh berries. By the time we finished eating, I was feeling tired. I told Brett we could go thrift store shopping another day and took him home. He asked if I wanted to go pick wild apples and plums tomorrow. I did!
I drove back to Trish’s. When we arrived, I switched laundry and moved my trailer. Trish had asked me to move it in an earlier text. I did school with Angel for an hour. Then I laid down to take a nap while Angel played in her room. I slept really hard for 2 hours. I could have slept longer but I forced myself to wake up. Angel wanted to go see some puppies near where her and the neighborhood kids were riding their bicycles yesterday. I walked over there and Angel rode ahead of me on her bicycle. We knocked on the door and the lady was happy to show us the puppies. They were boxer puppies, not even a week old and they were adorable. Angel wanted to know if she could get one but they were not the kind of dog that would be good to have at Trish’s. The lady with the puppies was my age and we instantly bonded. She shared some things going on in her life and we had a great talk while Angel held the puppies. By the time we left, I had made my first friend in Council. Yay!
When we got to Trish’s, she had just gotten home from work and was watering her yard. Angel went upstairs and played on her phone. I walked to the grocery store to get laundry soap. While I was there, I ran into the man Tracey and I had met the other day while walking the Weiser River trail. We greeted each other and had a friendly conversation.
When I got back from the store, some company had stopped by Trish’s to visit. We visited awhile. They left and Angel rode her bicycle around with the neighbor kids. Trish and I talked about replacing a plastic velcro screen she has in the doorway going to her laundry room. Tracey’s dog Cassie had ripped a hole in it. Trish wasn’t happy about Tracey not offering compensation for it. I thought it wasn’t in good character as well but I offered to pay for a replacement since he was my friend that I had brought over there. I will always take full responsibility for any damage done by me even if it’s inadvertently done by a friend. Trish said that she’d like to get swinging doors to put there instead. I thought that was a great idea and offered to split the cost of the doors with her. She was really happy about that. We talked about other doors she wanted to put up around the house. She wants a wooden screen door for the front door. We talked about making a homemade one and I told her I would look up how to make it. Christopher made one for his house and it looked fairly easy to make. I liked this video about how to make one. Even if it’s not exactly how she wants it done, it has some good useful information on the basics:
I went outside to check on Angel. She came running up without her bicycle and said that there is a girl who needs a bicycle. She asked if she could give her old bicycle to the girl. I said that she could and told her that was very thoughtful of her and she rode her old bicycle over to the kids. When I went back inside, I unloaded the dishwasher and talked to Trish some more.
At dinner time, I walked over to the kids playing and told Angel to come inside to eat. She said she had left her phone at the gravel hill and would be right back. I made her a bean and cheese taco and set it on the table. I waited a while but she still wasn’t back. After a half hour passed, I went to go find her. Just as I started walking, she came riding around the corner saying that she was sorry she took so long but she had started playing with the kids again. I told her that it was important for her to listen to me and come home when I asked her to or she wouldn’t get to play with the kids.
She ate her dinner and we went to Missy’s. I closed up the chickens and put clean sheets on the bed. Angel ate some honey bread and we both took a bath. The bathtub hadn’t been draining right, so as it was draining, I took the drain cover off to see if hair or anything was stuck in the drain pipe. There wasn’t anything stuck that I could see. So I put the cover back on. The bathtub continued to drain slowly like it had been since we got there. Angel and I brushed our teeth and went to bed. I read stories to her and put on a kids sleep meditation. We fell asleep at around 10 PM.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
