September 4-7: A New Dog

Thursday September 4, 2025

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for friends.
  • Thank you for nectarines.
  • Thank you for abundance.
  • Thank you for love.

I love you!

Dear Diary,

In order to catch up, I’m going to do a quick recap of some days.

I awoke at 4 AM. I wrote my blog notes and went back to sleep at 6 am. At 7:30 am, I got up and made tea and breakfast. I picked peaches at my neighbors and then cleaned a house in New Meadows. Angel did her schoolwork while I cleaned. Next, we went to an organizing opportunity in McCall and my client had forgotten that I was coming and wasn’t ready for me. That was fine with me and we went swimming at Zim’s instead.

In the evening, I hand watered plants and turned on the sprinklers. I fed the chickens and gave them fresh water. I touched up the house and washed the outside of the front windows. Then I went to my younger sisters in Cambridge and took care of her chickens.

By the time we got home, it was bedtime. We went straight to bed and were asleep at 9:30 PM.

  • Thank you for naps.
  • Thank you for peaches.
  • Thank you for love.

Dear Diary,

I awoke at 2 AM and slept again from 4 AM to 7 AM. I got up, did the morning routine and left to clean the church. On the way there I checked on everything at my friend TJ’s and turned on the sprinklers. I cleaned the church and Angel went to jujitsu. I cleaned another house and briefly went to the farmers market to say hi to people. Then we went to McCall and I cleaned an Airbnb.

When we got home, I rested for an hour while Angel played in her room. Then I fed her dinner and cleaned the bank. When I got home, we went to bed. I read a couple of chapters of a book to Angel and we went to sleep at 9 PM.

Dear Diary,

I awoke at 4:15 AM. I wrote some of my blog and slept again from 6 AM to 8 AM. We got up and did our morning routine. I went next door and helped my neighbor pick peaches. Then we went out to Mr. and Mrs. H’s house. Mrs. H and I, worked on the upstairs storage closet and got a lot done.

When I finished at Mr. and Mrs. H’s, we went to Weiser to get a new dog named T-boy. His owners are needing to rehome him and after having a few people look at him, they chose us. On the drive there, I had some extra time, so thought I would do a little exploring on the back roads. Somehow I got lost and turned around. Those roads out there in the foothills are confusing but it is some vast beautiful country. It took a while to wander back to the highway but we eventually got there.

We arrived in Weiser and T-boys owners were sad that he was leaving. They’d had him his whole 7 years of life since he was a puppy. Little Bit and T-boy played for a while, then it was a tearful goodbye and we took T-boy home. He was excited in the car and ran from window to window looking out. When we got home, we showed him the apartment and his food and water. He ran around excitedly and I took him and Little Bit outside. T-boy went pee, then he stood facing south, where his home was. He was shaking all over and acted like he was going to try to run home. I picked him up and assured him that he was going to have a good life with us. He wouldn’t look me in the eye and he was shaking really bad. My neighbor was outside and she came over and met him. Then I brought him upstairs and sat holding him. I gently petted him and talked to him soothingly. Little Bit snuggled up with us and gave T-boy kisses.

Angel’s friend came over to stay the night and the girls played in her room. T-boy is supposed to be Angels dog but I kept him with me the rest of the evening to give him a lot of assurance and comfort. I talked to a friend on the phone and we all went to bed at around 10 PM. T-boy cuddled up with me. He wasn’t shaking as much but he still wouldn’t look me in the eye when I talked to him. I told him that he would have a good life here with us and fell sleep with T-boy wrapped in my arms and Little Bit under the blankets at my feet (that’s his favorite spot).

Good morning God

  • Thank you for dogs.

  • Thank you for cooler weather.

Dear Diary,

I woke at 4 AM. I wrote my blog and posted it and went back to sleep at 6 AM. I woke again at 7 AM when Angel came into the room. We talked for a few minutes then I got up and made her breakfast and made myself tea. Angel’s friend woke up and the girls played in Angel’s room. I started laundry washing at the laundry mat and took the dogs down to the river. T-Boy was still missing his other family, and I’d been giving him lots of love and affection all morning. I thought taking him to the river would show him that he is going to have a great life with us. I had a talk with T-Boy in the middle of the night about this being his new home, this time he looked me in the eye and understood what I was saying. I told him that he would be well loved and would get to go on a lot of adventures. He accepted that and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.

The dogs had fun at the river and I got some good pictures of late summer flowers. Then I drove around town with the windows down so that T-Boy could see his new town. I stopped at the Community pond and let the dogs run around some more. I practiced having T-Boy come to me when I call him. He’s not as quick to respond as Little Bit but he does eventually come. He’s super smart though and pick up on things quickly.

Later in the morning, Angel and I walked to church. I really enjoyed the singing. Then we left early so I could clean a house in McCall. On the drive we listened to a Nancy Drew audiobook. T-Boy likes being in the backseat the truck, he runs back and forth to look out each window. He was having so much fun that Little Bit joined in for a while.

Angel and the dogs hung out while I cleaned an Airbnb. There was a lot of laundry to do and while I was waiting for it to finish, I cleaned out all the kitchen cupboards and drawers and organized everything nicely. We were there for 5 hours and the house looked great. I felt like I completed a masterpiece.

When we arrived back in Council, a friend met me at my place and we went to my older sisters to see if we could get my grandpas 4-wheeler running. My sister offered to sell it to me for $800 and I want to make sure it will run before buying it. We put a new battery in it and it would turn over but wouldn’t start. My friend siphoned the old gas out of it and I was really grateful to have him there because I wasn’t about to put my mouth on that siphon hose. He put new gas in and the 4-wheeler started right up. Yay! I was thrilled to have a 4-wheeler again.

I rode all around town to make sure any remaining old gas got burnt up. My friend hooked up my trailer and I put my 4-wheeler on it. Then we all went out to his place to go for a short ride in the woods. My friend lives out on the other side of Fort Hall hill in the woods next to the Weiser river.

It was getting dark when we got to his place but we went on a quick ride anyway. I didn’t take the dogs with us on the ride. After letting them run around while we got the 4-wheeler unloaded, I put them in the truck. I didn’t want them running next to us because they are little and could easily get ran over. I will get a crate or box and put it on the 4-wheeler for them to sit in.

The ride was a lot of fun. Angel really enjoyed herself and had me stop to let her off so she could run along the trail in front of me. My friend said that I could leave my 4-wheeler and trailer there and ride more tomorrow. I have tomorrow off and I am excited to ride all around the mountain.

My friend took us home and told us stories about some of his winter experiences going up his steep driveway. That driveway would be crazy in the winter! When we got home, I thanked my friend for all his help. I am so grateful for all he has done! I am delighted to have a 4-wheeler now and even better, it was my grandpas 4-wheeler.

Angel and I got ready for bed. She slept on the trundle bed and set up a spot for T-Boy to sleep next to her. Surprisingly, he willingly curled up next to her. He somehow knew that it was his job to sleep with Angel. He’s such a smart boy! I put on a sleep meditation and we went to sleep at 10 PM.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you. This was September 4 through the seventh. A lot has happened since then. Stay tuned.
