- Thank you for creeks.
- Thank you for love.

Dear Diary,
I awoke at 5 AM. I wrote my blog and posted it. At 6:30 AM, I woke Angel up and let Little B out. When he came back in, I let Jack loose and gave him fresh food and water. Angel and I went home and I made her breakfast. I didn’t have any ripe bananas so I blended up some watermelon for my smoothie and I made myself tea. Then I took Angel to horse riding lessons. This was her first time doing horse riding lessons since we had left Texas and she was excited. We arrived at the place and a young lady named Mesa was there to give Angel lessons. She helped Angel saddle up the horse and they went into the round pen. She had Angel ride around in circles and practice posting the whole lesson. Angel’s stomach was hurting from posting for so long and I could tell that she was not enjoying the lesson. When it was over and we were back in the truck, I asked Angel if she wanted me to sign her up for more lessons with that lady and she said no. I told her I would look around to see if someone else offered lessons nearby.

When we got back home, Angel left for jujitsu and I got ready to go work on my garden beds at my friends place and clean her house. Angel had forgotten her money for jujitsu so I dropped it by the rec center on the way. Angels coach talked to me and said that Angel is doing very well in jujitsu. I was glad to hear that.
I weeded another one of my garden bed and planted the frosted plants that I got the other day. I’m pretty sure a few of them are going to survive. I need to buy more plants though and get them planted soon. After gardening, I cleaned my friends house and got it looking really nice.
After getting back home, I walked over to the thrift store and had Angel take our compost over to my friend Camille’s chickens. When I got back, I got ready to go on an adventure with Aaron. Angel didn’t want to go and my sister said that she could come hang out with her at her office. Aaron arrived and we made a few stops before leaving town. First we stopped at the grocery store and strawberries were on sale so I bought a bunch. Then Aaron got a prescription from the pharmacy. While we were waiting for his prescription, I looked at a cute yard across the street where they had beautiful flower beds with cute yard decorations in them. Lastly we dropped Angel off at my sisters work and hearted (headed) up the mountain.
Today we went up towards Buck Park. When we got to around 4,500 feet, we stopped to look for morel mushrooms. Aaron went one way and I went another. When we met up again, I hadn’t found any but Aaron did and he showed me where he had found them. It was along a little path and we followed the path for quite a ways looking for more morels. We didn’t find any so we went off the path and followed a creek.
The water in the creek looked really inviting and I wanted to get in it. When we came to a little waterfall, I was definitely going to get in that waterfall. I told Aaron I was going to have to take off my clothes and bathe in the creek. He said that he would start back to the truck to give me some privacy. I took off my hiking boots and clothes and got in the water. It was as icy cold as I had expected it to be. I quickly got under the waterfall and my head about froze, so I was only under there a few seconds before scrambling out of the water and attempting to put my clothes back on, which was way more complicated than it seemed like it should to be. After getting my bra, shirt and underwear on, I decided I needed to find a flatter place to put on my pants, socks and shoes. I grabbed my stuff and walked towards a flatter area. My feet got all muddy in the process so I looked for a flat area along the creek so I could rinse my feet off before putting my socks on. Then I ended up getting in the middle of a bunch of stinging nettle and got it on my legs. Finally I found a flat area along the creek but there was no where to sit down because stinging nettle was everywhere. I rinsed off my legs and feet then started putting my socks on. I kept losing my balance and ended up stepping in the mud with my sock on and getting it all muddy. Putting on my pants didn’t go any better. I ended up getting one pant leg in the creek. Then when getting my hiking boots on, they got both wet and muddy. Sheesh. A 3 second plunge into the creek turned out to be a complicated 30 minutes of getting dressed.

Finally, fully clothed again, I walked back to the truck where Aaron was hanging out with the dogs. We drove farther up the mountain to 7,000 feet before we were stopped by a snow bank in the road. We walked around and I sat in the sun soaking up the mountain energy. I was feeling tired, so I laid down in the soft dry moss and fell asleep in the sun. I slept for about 20 minutes and it was blissful. I love napping in the sun.

When I woke up, I looked at plants and rocks for a while. Then we started back down the mountain. We stopped a couple of times to look around and let the dogs run. At one stop, I followed along a creek bed and it was tough going. I struggled through the bushes and climbed over logs for a while without seeing any morels. When I started back, I couldn’t remember the way, so I asked Little B to lead the way. He ran ahead as if he had been been waiting to be asked. I followed him and he led me back exactly the way we had come. What a smart dog!

We continued down the mountain and at some point I realized that my leatherman knife that I had brought to cut mushrooms wasn’t in my back pocket. I was pretty sure I had left it at the waterfall where I had taken my clothes off. My legs were feeling really tired by then and I debated just leaving it in the woods and getting another one, rather than hiking in to get it. I told Aaron and he said we could stop if I remembered where the place was. We hadn’t passed it yet and we both recognized the spot we had previously stopped at as soon as we saw it.
Aaron pulled over and I decided that my legs could go for a little longer. Aaron went with me and we headed up the path. Suddenly I saw some morels. I used Aaron’s knife to cut them and I was glad we had come back even if I didn’t find my leatherman. I was also glad I had brought my mesh bag with me to carry the mushrooms.

I found a few more morels on the walk to look for my leatherman. I was surprised that we hadn’t seen them when we were there earlier. When we were close to where I had gotten in the water, I went off the trail and walked down to the creek. I followed the creek to the place where I had stripped down and there was my leatherman sitting on a mossy rock. Yay! I put it in my pocket and ran back to the trail to show Aaron. He was glad I had found it.
On the walk back to the truck, we looked for more morels but did not see any. We continued driving down the mountain and when we got to town, I had Aaron drop me off at my sisters to get Angel. I talked to my sister a few minutes then I walked home with Angel. We got a few things from our apartment, then I walked to M&W to get my gratitude sign from out front. I took a picture of it and wiped it clean.

We went out to our pet sitting house. Angel played with Jack for a while and we all walked out to the shop to check on the cats food and water. I’d been slowly introducing Jack and Little Bit to each other. Jack is friendly with other dogs but I wanted to be sure since Little Bit is still recovery from his surgery and I don’t want him to get bitten again. I decided to let Little B down and I held Jack by the collar while they sniffed each other. I could tell by Jacks demeanor that he just wanted to play. I let Jack go and him and Little B ran all over playing.
When we got back from the shop, I put Jack up for the night and we went to bed. I read Angel a chapter from Watchers at the Pond. Then I wrote my blog notes and put on a sleep meditation. We drifted off to sleep at 10:30 PM.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
