Morning Prayer:

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for meditation.
  • Thank you for sunshine.
  • Thank you for this life.
  • Thank you for love.

I love you!

Dear Diary,

I awoke at 2 AM. I wrote 2 days of my blog and posted it. Then I put on a mediation and went to sleep some more. I awoke again at 7 AM. It was a beautiful bright sunny morning. I took a shower and mediated for an hour. Then I started Angels breakfast cooking. She woke up just as I was putting her food on her plate. Perfect! She ate and I made myself tea. I didn’t make a smoothie because I had leftover smoothie from yesterday.

I re-organized the kitchen and bathroom shelves. Then I sat in the sun at the kitchen table and drank my tea while I wrote some of my blog. Angel had gone downstairs to buy a dress for her kitten (whose name is now Rascal) at the gift shop below us. She came back with the dress and put it on Rascal who looked really cute.

Angel and I played a few games of What’s the Point until it was time for her to leave for jujitsu. I talked to Aaron on the phone briefly before I walked next door to do a vacuuming opportunity for my neighbor/friend. We sat and talked for a few minutes, then I vacuumed her house. Angel was just pulling up on her bicycle when I walked home. I fed her lunch and we went to the thrift store.

When we got home, we packed to go on a hike with my friend Camille. We drove over to Camille’s house and followed her up Mill Creek road to the trail head. The trail is called Shingle Flats, Camille has hiked it before but this was a first for me. I was excited to see new territory.

Angel and Camille’s daughters are the same age and they hiked together. Camille’s 12 year old son hiked ahead and I was in the back with Camille and she had her infant daughter in a tummy pack. We started out the hike going up a steep incline and it went on for a ways. The view behind us kept getting more and more amazing as we climbed higher and higher.

We came to a Y on the trail. Camille said that if we go to the right it loops back to the trailhead and if we go straight we will come out at a campground. We talked for a few minutes about which way to go. None of us had looked at a map of the trail before we left so we didn’t know the distance.

Finally we decided to go straight on up the trail to see if the campground was at the top. Angel and her friend stayed below to wait for us, while Camille, her son and I went up. It was quite a climb to the top. There wasn’t a campground up there but the view was even more spectacular. The trail followed the ridge of the mountain and I walked up it a little ways to see where it went. I walked along the ridge, then the trail went up again towards another ridge. I walked back to where Camille and her son were and we started down the trail. We could see the girls waiting for us at the bottom of the ridge. We waved at them and they waved back. Camille’s son went off trail and started going straight down the side of the mountain. I wanted to go down the side of the mountain too and I followed him. Camille stayed on the trail since she had her baby in the tummy pack.

We got down to where the girls were and we followed the loop trail into the woods. The walk back down was just as beautiful as the walk up, in a different way. It was wooded the whole way and didn’t have the views but there were streams and plants and bridges and the pine trees smelled amazing. A variety of birds were singing and it was magical.

We arrived at the trailhead and hung out along the banks of Mill Creek for a while. I put my feet in the water and it was ice cold. The kids threw sticks in the water and Camille’s dog Rex, despite the raging current, would jump right in and swim through the culvert going under the bridge and come out the other side. Rex is a big dog, he looks like a German Shepherd but Camille said he’s a different type of Shepherd that I can’t recall.

As we were all getting ready to leave. I walked over to look at a sign that had the trail map on it. The trail we had climbed up looking for the campground did indeed end up at a campground but it was another 2 miles past where we had been. Camille and I talked about hiking all the way there sometime in the future.

When we arrived home, I laid down and took a short 10 minute nap while Angel played in her room. Then she bicycled over to Camille’s to get Camille’s daughter. When they arrived, we all bicycled to Girls Club together. During Girls Club I helped the girls make a Mother’s Day gift. Afterwards I made sure Camille’s daughter got home safely on her bicycle and we went home.

Angel and I got ready for bed. I watched funny videos for a while and then talked to Aaron on the phone. We got in bed and I wrote my blog notes and put on a sleep meditation. I went to sleep at 10 PM.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.

Love, Victoria
