I woke at 5 AM. I wrote my blog and posted it. Then I took a quick shower and made tea. I waited out front to meet Pastor Amy, I was riding with her to the sunrise service. It was a little chilly out and I went to get my coat out of my truck, but it was locked and I didn’t have the key with me. I was in the process of getting on the app that will unlock my truck when Pastor Amy pulled up. The app was telling me I would have to sign up again so I decided to go without a coat and got in with Pastor Amy. I told her I didn’t have a coat with me and she said she happened to have a wool shawl I could wear.
We arrived at the foot of the hill right before 7 AM and there were a lot of cars parked there already. A man was waiting on his side-x-side and offered to give us a ride up. We accepted and I was really glad to have the shawl on because it was cold going up the hill.
The service started and I walked up the hill to take pictures. Everyone sang songs and shared stories of how God has shown up for them. Then we sang some more and the sun rose up over the mountain just as we were all singing “up from the grave he arose”. It was a glorious sunrise and the temperature outside instantly became warmer.

When the service was finished, we walked back down the hill and pastor Amy took me home. I rode my bicycle over to my sisters and got Angel. Angel was dressed nice and ready to go. We rode over the Community church to join a community breakfast. I sat next to the pastor of the Assembly of God church and his wife. I enjoyed talked with them while I ate a bunch of fruit. Angel sat across the room next to her jujitsu coach and then played hide-and-seek with the kids. After breakfast, I bicycled over to check on some dogs and cats and feed them. Then I rode home. Angel and I organized her room until it was time to leave again to go to church service.
The singing at church was fantastic and I enjoyed the service even though I fell asleep during part of it (don’t tell pastor Amy). After church we went out to Mesa where we were invited to have lunch. While we were waiting for everyone to arrive, Angel got to ride a pony which she really liked. I took a video of the views from up there. You could see for miles and miles.

When everyone arrived, we all sat down to eat. The dinner table was set up beautiful and the house was gorgeous. At dinner, a couple of the men got a little worked up about me not eating meat. I have no idea why my food choices bother people. Then a man started ranting about Muslims taking over the United States and people chimed in saying that this is Christian country and that Muslims are violent. I was thinking about all the past wars started in the name of Christianity. One lady mentioned that the United States supports freedom of religion but that was ignored. I was not enjoying the angry-fear based dinner conversation at all and I wanted to leave. I didn’t think it was a good conversation to have in front of Angel either. Sometimes Christians confuse me with their lack of faith, maybe God loves Muslims and maybe we should too.
I was relieved when the meal was over and it was time to leave. I thanked everyone for the delicious food and we went home. We arrived just as Aaron was pulling up. We were going on an adventure together and I was excited. I grabbed some snacks and we loaded up in Aaron’s truck. He drove us out on a loop I hadn’t been on before. Yay, new territory! It was a beautiful day and spring flowers were coming up everywhere. We stopped and explored a couple of areas. At one place we stopped, I laid in the grass with the sun shining on me, listening to the sound of the rushing river and birds singing and chatted with Aaron. It was a fabulous adventure.

When we got back to town, Aaron dropped us off and I made Angel dinner. Then I rode to my pet sitting opportunity. I fed the dogs and played frisbee with them in the backyard for quite a while. They love playing frisbee and I ran them until they got plenty of exercise.
Angel and I went to bed early and I wrote an article for the newspaper about the sunrise service. Then I wrote my blog notes and put on a sleep meditation. I went to sleep at around 9:30 PM.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
