Thursday: Adventure to Paddock Valley Reservoir

Thursday April 10, 2025

Dear Diary,

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for music.
  • Thank you for Angel.
  • Thank you for reliable transportation.
  • Thank you for love.

I love you!

I awoke at 4:45 AM. I turned on peaceful morning music, started water boiling for tea and took a long hot shower. When I got out of the shower, I made Angel breakfast and woke her up when it was ready. She ate and we got ready to go. Angel wanted to take the kitten Remy with us and I said she could.

We met Aaron at the gas station outside of town and he followed us to Weiser. I was taking my new truck into the dealership because the CarPlay system keeps cutting in and out. After dropping off the truck we were going with Aaron to do some shopping and go on an adventure.

I listened to inspirational music on the drive. It was a beautiful, bright sunny morning. The sun popped up over the mountain right before we got the Midvale. The valley lit up and it was absolutely stunning. I wanted to pull over to take a picture but there was no place to safely stop. I took a picture in my mind and continued to enjoy the scenery the rest of the drive to Weiser.

I dropped off my truck and the lady in the service department said it would be ready by 2 PM. We got in Aaron’s truck and continued on to Ontario, OR. We stopped at a couple stores. Then we went on an adventure to Paddock Reservoir. I had never been there and was excited to visit a new place.

It was a wonderful drive to the reservoir. Since I wasn’t driving, I was able to really soak in the scenery. With the spring grass coming up, the tree-less mountain sides were a mixture of glorious colors of green, with bright yellow flowers here and there. Aaron pointed out different geological formations and explained how they were formed. He knows way more about that stuff than I do and I really enjoy learning more about it.

We stopped a couple of times on the way and let the dogs run and let the kitten run and let Angel run, while I looked at plants and rocks and Aaron looked at earth formations and rocks. He found a bunch of pumice that gophers had brought up from under the ground. I found a small stream and followed it upstream a ways until I saw that it was a spring coming out of the ground. Those were fun finds. We stopped at another place along the road where the road-cut had revealed different layers of sand running in wavy lines and swirls. We took pictures of it and Aaron discussed ways it could have been formed.

When we arrived at the reservoir, it was not completely full but it had a good amount of water in it. I looked at plants and rocks. There were some great rocks there. Then I laid on the ground and sun bathed for a while, soaking up the suns good energy and fully relaxing my body. I could hear Angel and Aaron walking around. Aaron was talking to Angel about rocks and she was soaking it up. I’m grateful they are getting along so well. Aaron is really good with kids. The neighbor kids that live near him come over to his place all the time and he has some really good talks with them about life and rocks and nature and living in consciousness.

We stayed at the reservoir an hour or so, then we rounded up the dogs and kitten and kid and started back toward Weiser to get my truck. On the way, we stopped to look at a braided stream and check out an incredible rock formation. We couldn’t get to the rock formation but it was interesting to look at and speculate about how it was formed. I explored the stream and found a spot upstream that was deep enough to wade in up to my knees. I rinsed my hair and washed my face in the crisp fresh water. There’s something about ice cold fresh water streams that make me want to immerse my body in them. The area we were in was visible from the dirt road and visible from where Aaron was across the road digging for rocks, otherwise I would have stripped naked and plunged my whole body in the stream.

When I walked back to the truck, Aaron was just getting back too and he was excited to show me some rocks he had found. One of them was a neat piece of flint. We gathered up the dogs and kitten and kid and finished driving to Weiser.

I went into the service department to get my truck and was told that the CarPlay system worked great for them and nothing was wrong with it. I knew that wasn’t true. It cuts out randomly and it just happened to not do it at the dealership, that’s typical for getting car repairs done, especially electronic issues. I would just have to deal with my brand new truck not having a working CarPlay system.

I followed Aaron into Weiser to go thrift store shopping together but there was roads construction where the thrift store was. I followed him the long way around and when we got there, the thrift store was closed down. Aaron started back to Council and I stopped at Ridley’s to get some fresh squeezed OJ but they were out.

I drove back to Council and of course the CarPlay system started cutting out. I just turned it off. At home, I laid in the hammock in the front room for a while. Then a friend brought over 2 desks to put in Angels room. I rearranged things so they would fit. One desk is a vanity desk with a mirror that Angel really likes. The other one will work good for my sewing machine. While I was organizing, I decided to organize my tools in the closet. What I really need is an upright rolling tool chest, but I managed to fit everything in a medium sized bin.

Angel rode her bicycle and I walked to Aaron’s. We had left the rocks we had found in the back of his truck so I brought my rolling cart to bring them back home in. Angel rode her bicycle around with the neighbor kids and I hung out with Aaron. He told me lots of funny stories and we had fun hanging out.

When we got home and I fed Angel dinner. Then we played a game called Race Across the USA. It’s a great game. It teaches map skills, time zones, oceans, river and lakes, all the states, cities and geography. Plus it helps Angel with her reading skills. Angel won the game and we got ready for bed. I had a brief goodnight conversation with Aaron. I really enjoy him. Then I wrote my blog notes and put on a sleep meditation. I drifted off to sleep at around 10 PM.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.

Love, Victoria
