Sunday and Monday: Church, Walks and a Snowy Mountain Drive.

Sunday November 3, 2024

Dear Diary,

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for evening walks.
  • Thank you for wild apple trees.
  • Thank you for family.
  • Thank you for feelings.

I love you!

I woke up at 12:30 am. I wrote my blog and went back to sleep at 2:30 am. I woke up again at 6 am. I wrote my blog until 7:30 am when Angel woke up. She wanted 2 bean tacos for breakfast and I made them for her. For myself I made tea and a smoothie. Angel stayed with home with my sister while I drove to my younger sister Missy’s to take care of her cat and chickens. Halloween the cat got lots of pettings and I gave her some treats. The chickens still had plenty of food and water and I found them wandering around in the empty irrigation ditch next to the house.

When I got back home, it was time to get ready for church. Angel already had a dress on and I put on a nice shirt. We were visiting the Assembly of God church and I wanted to walk there since it was only 4 blocks away. Angel wanted to drive and I said ok, that way Bits could come and wait in the car.

We arrived at the church 15 minutes early and were greeted by several people. The pastor talked with us for a few minutes and I really enjoyed our conversation. As for kids, there were a few teenagers but no younger kids. We had Sunday school first and Angel was the only kid in the classroom but she liked the one-on-one attention. The adult Sunday school was in the sanctuary and I really enjoyed the message. It was about worshiping God. The pastors message was that there is no right or wrong way to worship God.

After Sunday school we had a half hour break to mingle and talk. Everyone was very welcoming and I enjoyed talking with several people. The church service was one of the best church services I’ve ever been to. A lot more people showed up and there were a few kids around Angels age. The youth group led the music and did a fabulous job. The songs were uplifting and inspirational. The “prayer committee” prayed over anyone who came forward and asked for prayer. There was a short sermon and we had communion. The congregation was filled with the energy of the Holy Spirit and I loved every minute of it. They had a potluck after church and again we were very welcome and accepted. Even when I mentioned that we don’t eat meat, which I only mentioned because people wanted us to try certain dishes they had made. Instead of taking offense, the response was, they would be sure to take that unto consideration for the next potluck. By the time we left, I knew I had found our church. Angel confirmed my conviction by saying that she liked it there and wanted to go there again. We officially didn’t need to visit anymore churches in town. The search was over.

When we got home, Angel played upstairs while my sister and I gave the dogs baths. It took the two of us to bath her huge chocolate lab Huckleberry. After both dogs were bathed, we sat on her bed and watched a movie. It was a horrible movie about a guy who kidnapped a woman with the intent to murder her. It was called Don’t Move and I knew I shouldn’t watch it because I don’t want to fill my mind with yucky things. I watched it anyway and regretted it. It was gruesome and cruel and on top of all that, the acting wasn’t that great. I could had done something so much more beneficial during those two hours.

Angel came downstairs and we watched another movie. This one was much better. It was called IF and was a really cute movie. When it was over, I ate a salad and leftover vegetable soup and Angel ate a waffle. Then Angel and I went on a walk around the neighborhood with Bits until it got dark. We saw 2 deer big on our walk. They were both bucks with good sized antlers.

When we got home, we got ready for bed and I read Angel stories. She found a book on her book shelf that showed, step-by-step, how to draw animals. I remember buying it for her at a thrift store a long time ago and she hasn’t been interested in it at the time. Suddenly, now she was interested in it. I’d had a feeling she would like the book someday. I sat with her and watched her draw all the animals in the book. She was very proud of her art work when she finished.

I turned out the light and put on a sleep meditation for her to listen to. Then I went to bed and fell asleep right away at 10 pm.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.

Love, Victoria

Dear Diary,

Good morning God,

  • Thank you for guiding us to a wonderful church.
  • Thank you for this day.
  • Thank you for organizing opportunities.
  • Thank you for connection.
  • Thank you for my sisters.

I love you!

I woke up from 12:30 am to 3:30 am. While I was awake, I edited my blog and posted it. Then I finished the book I’ve been reading for the last month Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. It was a great book about different peoples lives in a small town in Maine. I fell back asleep and had a strange dream that I started cleaning for a new client. It was a husband and wife. One day when I showed up to clean, the wife met me outside and tried to stab me with a knife, yelling that I was trying to steal her husband. I fought her off and told her that I wasn’t interested in her husband in anyway. I got in my truck and drove away. I parked down the road and called the police. That’s all I remember of the dream but I’m sure it was from watching that horrible movie with my sister yesterday called Don’t Move. Watching movies like that do not benefit my life in any way.

I woke up again at 6:30 am. I could hear Angel downstairs talking to my sister. I called Angel to come upstairs before she could start playing video games. While waiting for her to come upstairs, I made my bed and got dressed. Angel finally came up after calling for her a few more times. She was being sassy and cranky. I asked her to make her bed and get dressed. She grumbled while she started making her bed. I went downstairs and made tea. My sister already had oatmeal cooking for Angel. When the oatmeal was ready, Angel came down to eat and was still in her pajamas. I asked her to get dressed when she finished eating so she would be ready to go when I got back. I left to go feed my younger sisters cat and chickens. I spent some time giving her cat lots of love and attention. Then I checked to make sure the chickens were doing good. When I got back home, Angel was dressed and playing a video game on TV. My older sister left for work and I had Angel turn off the TV. We did her schoolwork together for an hour until it was time to leave to do an organizing opportunity.

The organizing opportunity was in a small mountain town called Cuprum. I was looking forward to the hour long drive through the mountains to get there. We drove into dark clouds about halfway there. We turned off on a small narrow dirt road and started climbing up when we hit snow. The road was muddy and slushy with a hundred or more foot drop on one side. Oh boy, I wasn’t used to driving in this kind of road conditions and I was really glad I had studded snow tires on the truck. Every time I slid in the mud I wished that I had remembered to put a shovel and a bag of sand in the truck. We made it to the summit and started going down the other side. Going down is harder to drive in the snow in my opinion because you have to use your brakes and using your brakes in snow, ice and mud will make you slide. When I felt my heart beating fast with fear, I breathed deeply and reminded myself that I knew how to safely drive in these kind of road conditions. A few times going down the other side of the mountain, I came across another truck and I had to pull over into the deep mud to let them go by. The rule on one lane mountain roads is: whoever is going downhill is the one that pulls over because it’s important to keep your momentum while going uphill. Thankfully I was on the side of the mountain going downhill and not on the side of the cliff. Relief flooded over me when I reached the bottom of the mountain. Then I realized that I would I have to go over the mountain again going home. I decided I didn’t need to think about that right now.

We reached the small town of Cuprum and found the house without a problem. I had written down directions in case google maps failed and I was glad I had because google maps did cut out and there was no connection to get it back. The house was a cute little log cabin and my client came outside and greeted us. It was warm and cozy inside and I got Angel settled in watching educational videos on her DVD player.

My client showed me her attic storage upstairs, it was packed full of stuff. She said that she wanted to sort through everything in there and get it all organized. I was thrilled, this was just my cup of tea. I started pulling boxes out for my client to look through. My client said she was in the mood to get rid of stuff and that’s exactly what she did, she went full speed ahead. It only took us 2 hours to get that entire attic cleaned out and organized. As usual I didn’t get a before picture but I did get a halfway done picture.

The back of my truck was stacked up with stuff to donate to the thrift store when we headed back over the mountain. Even though it was still snowing, the mountain road has been plowed and it was a much easier drive going back. There were prescribed burns going on along the side of the road and the smell of campfires burning brought back a lot of memories. I spend many years camping as often as possible in the summers in Idaho.

When we arrived in Council, I dropped off all of the stuff at the thrift store. An older man helped me unload it all and I thanked him. We went home and I laid down while Angel played with her toys. I got on Facebook dating and spent time on there while I rested until my sister came home. I talked with my sister for a while. Angel was hungry for dinner and I made her bean tacos. Then I took a bath and got ready to go to a women’s Bible study at the Assembly of God church.

Even though it was dark and cold out, I bundled up and walked 4 blocks to the church. It was a fantastic walk. I love walking. The Bible study was good and once again I felt very welcome and accepted. I even volunteered to help out at some upcoming events. When it was over I enjoyed the walk home. It’s so great that I can walk to places I want to go in town. When I arrived home, I told my sister good night and read Angel stories. I put on a sleep meditation for her to listen to and went to bed. I fell asleep at around 9 pm.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.

Love, Victoria
