Dear Diary,

Good morning God,

  • I am grateful for mountains.
  • I am grateful for hot springs.
  • I am grateful for friends.
  • I am grateful for having everything I need.
  • I am grateful for this day.
  • I am grateful for good sleep.

Thank you! I love you.

I woke up at 4 am and went back to sleep at 5:30 am. It was 9:10 am when I woke up again. Angel was playing with her toys in the room next to me and I could see her through the doorway. When I sat up, she looked over at me and said, “it’s about time you woke up”. I laughed and said, “I didn’t expect to sleep this late.” Bits was laying on his blanket and I turned him over to put iodine on his ringworm spot. It was looking good and as I was examining it, I realized that the spot was still covered in hair. I know from past experience that any spots with ringworm have no hair, all the hair falls out. The hair wasn’t brittle or breaking off easily either. This couldn’t be ringworm. I did some research online and decided it was either a hot spot or yeast.

I got distracted from my research by Angel saying that she was hungry. I realized what time it was. It was almost 10 am. My friend Brett was coming over at 11 am. We had plans to go to the thrift store and wild apple picking. He was also bringing red lentil soup and a couple of cabbage salads he had made yesterday that we were going to eat for dinner. After dinner we were going to play a game of scrabble. I called Brett and asked him to come over at 12 pm instead of 11 am since I still wanted to do a couple of hours of school with Angel. Angel ate her waffles and started school. She did a fantastic job with her schoolwork. She wrote out the calendar for the month of November. Then she through all 5 of her sight word decks of cards and read all of them. I had her write down 20 of the sight words to practice her writing. Next we practiced multiplication and lastly she did a craft. Angel made up her own craft idea of finding a stick outside and hot gluing feathers to it to make it look like a tree.

While Angel was outside finding a stick, I called the local veterinarian to see about getting Bits in to have his spot looked at. They couldn’t get him in until Tuesday of next week. I made the appointment even though I believe his spot will be healed up by then as fast as it is healing. I talked to the vet tech on the phone about Bit’s spot and she confirmed that it doesn’t sound like it is ringworm. Phew. I’m still going to keep him partially quarantined just in case.

Angel worked on her craft while I made myself a smoothie with bananas/kiwi/tangerine juice. Angel did her craft, then she went through all of her toys and picked out a bunch to donate. I had told her that any new toy she got she had to get rid of an old one of equal size. She wanted to get some new toys and filled up two grocery bags full of her old toys. Right as Angel was finishing up going through her toys, my friend Brett came over. Angel and I got ready to go and we all walked over to the thrift store. Angel only had 5 long sleeve shirts and I wanted to get her more for the winter. I found 2 in her size and also bought a bunch of winter head bands. I like to keep my ears warm in the cold weather, otherwise they start aching. When I spent 7 years commuting by bicycle only in Boise, I was miserable if my ears got cold. Angel picked out a couple of toys and Brett got a few things he needed.

We left the thrift store and walked to the grocery store. On the way, I stopped in at the vets and asked if I could leave a bunch of my pet sitting business cards with them. The lady up front said she would be happy to refer me and told me that they get people asking all the time. Yay! As of right now, I have no visible income coming in until I do a cleaning opportunity on November 11th. I’m living fully by faith and I am not concerned. I know that amazing opportunities to create money with fall into my lap and they will be perfect.

At the grocery store, Angel wanted to look at the toys. She had brought her money with her and had $16 to spend. The toy she had seen there the other day that she wanted to buy was gone and she didn’t see any other toys that she wanted. I suggested we look at Dollar General. She liked that idea and we walked over there. It’s great living in a small town where everything is within walking distance. She found a set of small toy dogs that she bought for $10 plus tax.

When we got back home, we used the bathroom and packed up some snacks. Then we got in Brett’s car and went in search of wild apple trees. We found a few trees but most of them were well picked over. We came across some bear scat under one of the apple trees but didn’t see any bears. We did see wild turkeys though. After harvesting a few apples from several trees, we’re able to fill one bag full. Both Angel and I ate one of the apples and they were super sweet. They are sweetest this time of year.

As we got to a higher elevation, the view was incredible. We drove into the pine forest and switched from looking for apple trees to adventure mode. Brett took a side road and we drove deep into the forest. We crossed over beautiful mountain streams and enjoyed the beautiful fall colors of the deciduous trees mixed in with the green pine trees. We drove past a lot of hunting camps and found a place to pull into to do some walking. I took a video of it:

We got back to my sisters house, at around 4:30 pm. Brett had remembered to bring his homemade red lentil soup and cabbage salads with him. While we were waiting for the soup to warm up on the stove, we started a game of scrabble. My sister came home and took her dog Huckleberry on a walk. We had just started eating when she got back and she joined us at the table. Angel even tried some of the soup and liked it but mostly she ate French bread with honey on it.

I won the game of scrabble but there been plenty of rematches I’m sure. Brett went home and I took a bath while Angel and my sister played Mario together. Angel got in the bath after me. When she got out, we got ready for bed. I read her 3 stories and put on a sleep meditation. We fell asleep at 8:30 pm.

Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.

Love, Victoria
