Morning prayer:
Good morning God,
- Thank you for this day.
- Thank you for adventures.
- Thank you for emotional triggers.
- Thank you for creeks.
- Thank you for love.
I love you!
I awoke at 5 AM. I wrote my blog and finished at around 8:30 AM. I attempted a morning nap since I hadn’t gone to bed until after midnight last night and I was feeling really tired. Plus my body was hurting and inflamed from eating junk food again. It’s been a long while since I’ve had a junk food binge like what’s been happening lately but I was on a roll. I take it as a good sign. I feel a big shift in consciousness happening inside me and I have been repeating old self sabotaging patterns to remind myself what works and doesn’t work. I’ll get tired of feeling like crap and choose foods that make me thrive again.
When I got up from trying to sleep, I got ready to go to Silver City, Idaho with Savana and Angel. I fed Angel and went to find my mom. I found her in the sewing room writing out birthday cards for the people at her church. She asked if I wanted to help her do the cards and I told her we were getting ready to go to Silver City. My mom started talking about how she had been doing the cards for an hour and no one had came to check on her or offer to help. I asked her why she was doing the birthday cards for her church if she didn’t like doing it. She said she loved doing them but they take a long time and it would be nice if someone would offer to help. I was feeling frustrated as my childhood triggers sparked to life. I told her that I didn’t want to do the birthday cards but if she wanted us to help her do them, we could cancel going to Silver City. Thankfully at that time my daughter Savana came in the room. She saw the drama going on between my mom and myself. She gave my mom a hug and told her that the cards she made looked nice. That calmed things down and we left to go to Silver City.
It was a beautiful day for a drive. The high desert was bleak and harsh and amazing. There’s a whole lot of vast rugged wilderness in Owyhee county and I love it. The road to get to Silver City was in good shape and parts of it were covered in Mormon crickets. I stopped and showed the crickets to Savana who was completely grossed out by them. They are creepy giant carnivorous crickets and they give me the heebie jeebies. I remember the first time I saw them, I was in my 20’s going up to Prairie, Idaho. The dirt road was covered in black and brown dead Mormon crickets with live ones on top of the dead, eating them. When I drove over them you could hear the live ones crunching underneath the truck tires. So gross. There were crickets every where and I saw people camping right in the middle of them. I wouldn’t even step out of my truck, let alone camp with those creepers around. I didn’t know what they were when I first saw them but later found out they were called Mormon crickets.

When we got to the top of the mountain, we were at 6,500 feet, then we dropped down into Silver City to about 6,100 feet. Silver City is an old mining town in the Owyhee mountains in southwest Idaho. The town is run with generators and solar power and has some really neat old buildings. It is only accessible by car in the summer and is closed in the winter. The hotel and gift store are open on the weekends in the summer and since it was a Tuesday, nothing was open.

We walked through town and went down by Jordan creek. It was a hot day and it felt nice by the creek. Savana went off to explore and I stayed at the creek with Angel. Some very clean kids came out of nowhere and played with Angel in the creek while I laid in the soft grass under a tree and took a little rest. After a while, the kids parents came over and retrieved their children to go on a walk. They were Mennonite which explains while the kids were so clean and polite.

Savana came back from exploring and we did some rock hounding. We found some really neat looking rocks. Then we walked across town to another part of the creek and found some more neat rocks. The rocks are going to look so awesome after I shine them up in my rock tumbler.
We hearted (headed) back down the mountain and arrived at my moms around 6:30 PM. We all ate and rested. My mom put on a movie for her and Angel to watch, Savana went out with a friend and I went to bed early. I wasn’t feeling good and was exhausted. I feel asleep right away at around 8:30 PM.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
