Dear Diary,
Good morning God,
- Thank you for this day.
- Thank you for faith.
- Thank you for homemade bread.
- Thank you for connection.
- Thank you for patience.
- Thank you for good sleep.
- Thank you for grief.
I love you!
I woke up at 1:30 am. I wrote my blog and played wordle and connections. At 5:30 am, I fell asleep again until 7:30 am. I’d had a crazy dream about being rejected by one of my friends in Texas when I went back to visit. I know it’s my mind processing my new life in Idaho and missing my friends in Texas.
Angel woke up and I made her grilled cheese sandwiches for breakfast. After she ate, she took a bath and got ready to go. I checked my bread that was had been rising overnight and it didn’t rise like it was supposed to. My sister had made some tangzong that she wanted me to add to it to make the bread softer. I added it but I think it messed up the rising process somehow. Regardless, I punched it down and set it up for a second rise. I made tea and a smoothie. My smoothie had in it, 10 bananas, spirulina, the last of the homemade apple juice and filtered water. For Angel’s lunch, I made 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
I finished getting ready to go and we left to go to the library and jujitsu. Angel rode her bicycle and I walked with Bits. We got to the library right after they opened at 9:30 am. Angel and I worked on a puzzle and I checked out another Louis L’Amour book. At 10 am we went next door to the rec center for jujitsu. I watched the kids and deleted a bunch of pictures on my phone. A few other moms were there and I chatted with them for a few minutes. I shared how I was feeling depressed and going through an adjustment period from moving. They were supportive and encouraging and I was grateful for that.
After jujitsu was over, we went home and got in the truck to do a cleaning opportunity. We listened to a Diary of a Wimpy Kid on the half hour drive there. When we arrived, Angel started on her schoolwork and I got busy cleaning. This is my second time cleaning this house and I’ll be doing it once a week. The lady I clean for was outside taking care of her horses the whole time we were there. I did a thorough job of getting it all clean. I was surprised at how much dust accumulated after just one week. I think it’s from the wood stove. When I finished, my client saw me loading my cleaning supplies in the truck and came to the house to pay me. We talked for a few minutes about the holiday schedule and switched her cleaning day to Mondays.
When Angel and I got back to Council, we went straight to the library. I was meeting the editor of the local newspaper there. He wanted to talk to me about doing some writing for them. We arrived a half hour before my meeting and we worked on the puzzle we had started that morning. When the editor arrived, he talked to me about covering the city council meetings once a month and writing out the minutes. I was thrilled at being hired to write for the local paper. He also asked me to cover some events in Cambridge when they have them. Yay! We had a great conversation and shared a little about ourselves. He told me about how he and his wife had moved from Maine to Idaho and ended up running the local newspaper. It was a great story. Before he left, he had me sign an independent contract form. I will be getting paid for writing for the first time in my life and I am so very happy about that.
Angel and I worked on the puzzle until it was completed and got home at around 6 pm. We had to immediately pack up and get ready to do a pet sitting opportunity for 3 days in McCall. My sister was busy getting things set up for Thanksgiving. I checked my bread that had been on its second rise, it had been rising all day but didn’t rise very much. I warmed up the oven to cook it anyway. My sister said that she would cook it for me so that Angel and I could leave to go to McCall sooner. I thanked her and loaded our suitcase and some food in the car.
We listened to a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book on the way to McCall and we both laughed the funny parts. The drive was uneventful going through the canyons. The roads were clear and traffic was light. I’ve gotten the canyons memorized by now and know where the tight corners are.
When we arrived at the pet sitting house, the dogs Rocco and Bentley were happy to see us. I let them out to use the bathroom and they ran around with Bits. Angel and I got settled in, I brought in our food and luggage while Angel organized the pillows on the couch to make herself a cave bed. She ate macaroni and cheese for dinner and I built a fire in the wood stove. It’s been a while since I built a fire but I remembered how and got it started right away. I was getting ready to read Angel a story when a friend called. She was struggling with some things and I did a love (life) coaching session with her. She got a lot of clarity from our session and so did I. By the time I got off the phone, Angel was asleep. All the dogs cuddled up with me on the bed and I read some of the Louis L’Amour book I had checked out at the library this morning called Comstock Load. My dad loved Louis L’Amour books and read them all the time. I started reading them recently in honor of my dad and they are great books.
At 9:45 pm, I turned out the light and went to sleep.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
