Dear Diary,
Good morning God,
- Thank you for this day.
- Thank you for relaxing mornings.
- Thank you for a full nights sleep.
- Thank you for hot springs.
- Thank you for breath.
- Thank you for my body.
- Thank you for grief.
I love you!
I woke up at 6:45 am. I had slept through the night again. I went downstairs and said good morning to my sister. Then I sat in bed and wrote my blog. Angel woke up just as I finished writing. I read her my blog, she approved, so I posted it. It was just after 9 am when I went downstairs to make Angel breakfast. She wanted grilled cheese sandwiches, of course. While her sandwiches were cooking, I made myself tea and a smoothie. My smoothie had 10 bananas, spirulina, homemade wild apple juice and filtered water.
After Angel ate her breakfast, we painted rocks for a while. Then I made a few dog coats while Angel played with her legos. I told her that since it was Thanksgiving week, she didn’t have to do school but she also couldn’t play any games on her phone unless she did school. She said she didn’t care about playing games on her phone and continued to play with her legos.
I took a break from sewing and walked to the grocery store with my fold up grocery cart. I bought lettuce, mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cucumber, green onions, apples, raspberries, blackberries, pineapple and bananas. After getting home and putting the groceries away, I saw on-line that a local lady was giving away farm fresh eggs for free. I messaged her about getting some eggs and found out that she lives just a few blocks away. I walked to her house with Bits. We were almost there when a cute sheltie dog came running up to us. She ran around Bits and he played with her within the range of his leash. When we walked up to the house to get eggs, the sheltie seemed to be going back home.
I got the eggs and thanked the lady. As we started walking back, the sheltie ran up to us again and followed us. I told her to go home. She stopped and I thought she was going to go back but then she came running up to us. In a firmer voice, I told her to go home. She stopped again. I turned and stomped my feet, telling her to go home. This time she ran back the way she came.
When I got home, I soaked the eggs, washed them and put them in the fridge. I told Angel that we were going to the park. I walked the dogs and Angel rode her bicycle. Huckleberry had on his shock collar and a well as his leash. He was really excited and dragged me down the road. I used the beep setting on the collar to get him to heel and stop pulling. By the time we got to the park, he was doing really good.
There was no one else at the park so I let the dogs off leash. Huck thought he was in heaven and ran all over. Angel played on the playground equipment and hid some little toys she had brought with her for other kids to find. I found a tennis ball in the grass and played fetch with Bits. He loves playing fetch. Angel joined in playing fetch and chased the ball with Bits so see if she could get to it first. Bits is super fast and usually beat her to it. Huckleberry ran around joining in on the excitement. Mostly he found all the puddles and splashed around in them, getting himself soaking wet. It was 38 degrees Fahrenheit out but that didn’t seem to faze Huckleberry. I took a video of our play time at the park:
Walking back home, we went by the town pond. Huckleberry ran straight for the water and jumped in. He looked like a big brown seal swimming around. I took another video:
When we got home, Angel made herself a jelly sandwich and ate some raspberries. At least she is taking a break from grilled cheese. We went upstairs and painted rocks some more. A friend stopped by and brought some bones for the dogs. In thanked her for the bones and stood outside talking with her for a few minutes and we made tentative plans to get together for coffee and tea after the Thanksgiving holiday.
I made dog coats the rest of the evening and Angel painted me a picture of a unicorn. I loved it and hung it on the wall in my bedroom above a picture my adult daughter had painted years ago. My sister came home from work and Angel wanted to play video games with her. I told Angel that she had to do her schoolwork if she wanted to play video games. She pulled out her math book and got started right away. I helped her with her math while I pulled out stitches from a dog coat that I had accidentally sewed wrong. Then I had to pull out stitches again when I sewed velcro on the wrong side. When I finished that dog coat, I decided I was done for the night.
Angel finished her schoolwork and ran downstairs to play video games. I painted rocks some more and cleaned up my sewing mess. Then I went downstairs to talk to my sister. Angel and her were involved in their video game and she couldn’t talk. I ground up some wheat berries into flour and started 2 batches of sourdough bread rising. My friend wants to buy another loaf from me and I’m excited about getting good at making sourdough bread.
At 7 pm, I told Angel that it was time to wrap up her game and get ready for bed. She made herself a jelly sandwich for dinner using my sisters homemade peach preserves. We went upstairs and got ready. I realized that I had forgotten about women’s Bible study tonight and missed it. Oh well, I guess I was supposed to go to bed early instead. I read Angel part of a Magic Treehouse book and she read one of her children’s books for her half hour of required reading time. I finished my Louis L’Amour book and cuddled with Angel. She said that she missed Christopher and wanted to go back to Texas. Christopher didn’t respond to my last text wishing him a happy birthday on November 17th. Which proves to me that he really isn’t interested in continuing our relationship. I had suspected that was the case for a couple of years now when I was the only one initiating communication between us. He is staying in contact with Angel though and I am grateful for that. They call each other on her phone a few days a week. I understood Angel missing Christopher. I miss our life in Texas too. I miss the welcoming warmth of southern people. I miss the sunshine. I miss my friends and clients. I miss hearing the southern accent. I told Angel that we would go visit in a few months and that seemed to make her feel better. I felt better too realizing that I could go visit Texas anytime I wanted. Angel got in her bed and we fell asleep at 8:30 pm. Yay! I love early bedtimes.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
