Dear Diary,
Good morning God,
- Thank you for this day.
- Thank you for rain.
- Thank you for neighbors.
- Thank you for challenges.
- Thank you for fears.
- Thank you for creativity.
- Thank you for sisters.
I love you!
I woke up at 2:30 AM. I went downstairs and checked on my bread that was rising. Its second rise had gone well and it was ready to go in the oven. I warmed up the oven and put the bread in. I wrote my blog while I waited for it to cook. When the timer went off, I pulled the bread out of the oven and it looked great. Yay! My first perfect loaf of sourdough bread. I knew if I kept practicing I would get better at it. I set the bread on the counter to cool and went back to bed. I finished writing my blog and posted it. I read some more of the Louis L’Amour book and went back to sleep at 5:30 am.
At 8:30 am, Angel woke up and said that she was hungry. I went downstairs and made tea for myself and grilled cheese sandwiches for Angel. My sister was awake and we talked about Thanksgiving plans. She was planning to make a bunch of food. Since there will only be 4 of us at Thanksgiving, I suggested we not make food the main focus and instead only make a little food, then play board games together or go swimming at the hot springs. She wouldn’t go for it, she wanted a traditional Thanksgiving meal and was planning on cooking for two days. I said I would make a salad and pumpkin pie.
I walked a few blocks to meet a man that wants me to pet sit for him starting mid December through mid January. I met his sweet dog and we hit it off right away. He hired me on the spot and I am grateful to be getting another pet sitting opportunity. On the walk back home, I stopped at Dollar General to see if they happened to sell sewing oil. They didn’t but I bought more paints for painting rocks.
When I arrived home, Angel was sitting on my sisters bed watching her play video games. I told Angel that she was getting some outside time in today and had her go with me to the post office. She rode her bicycle and I walked with Huckleberry and Bits. I stood outside with the dogs and asked Angel to go inside to check the post office box. She had never done it before, I told her the number of the box and watched through the windows to see if she could figure it out. She followed the numbers on the boxes and found the right one. After trying the key backwards, she got it right and brought the mail out to me. Angel rode back home while I let Huckleberry and Bits run around in an empty field a short distance from the post office. They had a lot of fun running and playing. When we got home, Angel and I left again right away to go to the thrift store. I was hoping to find some sewing machine oil there. I didn’t find any but I bought some wrapping paper, holiday gift bags and a few Christmas items.
When we got home, I made Angel a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches and warmed up some carrot soup for myself. We sat at the table and ate together. Then Angel went back to watching my sister play video games and I walked to the recreation center to participate in free ballroom dancing lessons. The dancing lessons were a lot of fun. There were 5 of us there, a man and his wife and 3 more women including myself. We learned some of the “fox trot” and we took turns leading and following. It was glad I went because I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
When I walked outside after dance lessons, the sun was shining! Yay! It felt so wonderful to see the sun. It has been overcast for days. I walked around town taking pictures of plants and I took a video of downtown. Here it is:
When I got home, I planned on getting Bits and walking some more but the cloud cover returned and I lost interest. Instead I went upstairs with Angel and we painted rocks. I took the plunge and started decorating them and writing messages on them. It went well and they turned out good. That was a relief.
I started to feel really tired, so tired I felt like I couldn’t function. I laid down in bed and rested for about a half hour. The tiredness passed and I got up. I pulled out all of the Christmas presents I had been collecting throughout the year and Angel helped me sort through them all. I got everyone’s presents in holidays gift bags and labeled. Yay! Next weekend, I am driving to Salt Lake City to spend Thanksgiving with my boys, daughter-in-loves and grandkids. We are going to do Christmas together at that time too, so I want to have everything ready to go.
Angel and I painted rocks some more until Angel got hungry and wanted grilled cheese sandwiches again. I made them for her and while she ate, I started another loaf of sourdough bread rising. I haven’t been eating dinner and have been intermittent fasting by not eating after 4 pm. I am liking the results and I sleep better on an empty stomach when I’m not digesting food.
Angel and I went upstairs again. We got ready for bed and painted more rocks. At 9:15 pm, we got into bed. I wrote down blog notes. Then I read Louis L’Amour until around 10:30 pm. I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer and I went to sleep.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
