I love you!
I woke up at 1:30 am. I played wordle and connections and wrote my blog. I finished writing, editing and posting at 5 am. I read a few pages of a Louis L’Amour book and fell back asleep. At 8:30 am, I woke up again. I went downstairs and made tea. I ground up some wheat berries and started a new batch of sourdough bread rising. At 9 am, I woke Angel up. I made her grilled cheese sandwiches for breakfast and we got ready to leave to go to jujitsu.
Angel rode her bicycle there and I walked with Bits. On Fridays they do jujitsu practice differently since the public school kids are there. The public school is closed on Fridays. They played group games which were great for Angel. She rarely gets to play group games. Then they did the regular jujitsu class.
On the way home, I ran into one of my neighbors that was walking to her car. I had seen some of her posts on a local Facebook group and I introduced myself. We visited for a few minutes and she invited me to come over later in the day to get to know each other better. I accepted her invitation.
Angel did her math schoolwork and then we painted rocks. I haven’t put any designs on them yet and am still painting the base coats. I’m nervous about writing on them and doing the designs because I’m questioning my artistic skills. I questioned why the Holy Spirit even gave me this rock painting idea and prayed for guidance. I wrote Merry Christmas across one of the rocks with a paint pen and it didn’t look very good, so I painted a base coats over it to cover it up and start over.
I decided that I would make a few dog coats to get my mind off of my nervousness about rock painting. I was almost finished with the first dog coat when my sisters sewing machine starting squeaking. I looked through her sewing stuff for sewing machine oil but couldn’t find any. I decided to walk to the store to see if they happened to carry sewing machine oil. The store didn’t have any, which wasn’t a surprise, so I ordered some on Amazon but it will take 3 days to get here. I guess I will have to face my fear of rock painting and go back to doing that until I can start making dog coats again.
When I got home, I made Angel grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Then I took the dogs on a walk for a couple of blocks. At the end of the alley there’s a cute little yellow house that’s been for rent. I have a fondness for yellow houses and I’ve been debating calling about it. I don’t have the income yet to support paying rent but suddenly felt like I should call, knowing that any money I needed would be provided. The lady I talked to said that they were doing some repairs on it before it would be ready to rent and somebody was already lined up to rent it. I asked her to call me if that ended up falling through and she said she would for sure.
Back at home, I made a carrot vegetable soup for myself. It had carrots, tomatoes, celery, garlic, onion, broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms in it. While it was cooking, Angel practiced some of her jujitsu moves on me. She liked that she could take me to the ground. I tried doing a move on her and ended up falling over.
When my soup was ready, Angel read Green Eggs and Ham to me while I ate. Then went back to playing with her legos which is what she had been doing most of the day. I laid down to read and ended up falling asleep. I woke up 20 minutes later when my phone rang. It was the guy who own the local newspaper calling me. He wanted to know if I would be willing to start writing for them. “Yes”, was my immediate answer. We made plans to get together Tuesday afternoon and he would tell me the ins-and-outs.
My sister came home from work and we talked for a few minutes, then I went over to my neighbors to visit with her. I stayed for an hour or so and we had a great time getting to know each other. I thoroughly enjoyed her. She makes really unique home decorations out of flowers and coffee cups of all sizes as well as decorative boards and other things. She’s very creative and I invited her to share my booth with me for the craft fair. She was excited about that and said that she had missed signing up in time to get a booth for herself. I was relieved to have someone share my booth with me because I was feeling like I was in over my head with this craft stuff.
I wish I would have thought to take a picture of some of her artistic creations to post on my blog but I did think to take a picture of her adorable corgi puppy named Shelby. Shelby is full of energy and I had fun playing with her.
When I got home, I hung out with Angel and my sister in the bedroom. Angel had waffles and raspberries for dinner. I was glad she was taking a break from grilled cheese sandwiches. I checked on my bread that had been rising all day and it looked perfect. I punched it down and got it ready for its second rise.
Angel and I went upstairs to get ready for bed. We painted rocks for an hour or so. I continued to focus on painting base coats on my rocks, while Angel fearlessly painted all sorts of patterns and designs on her rocks. After painting, Angel played with her legos and didn’t want a story. I read my Louis L’Amour book until 11:30 pm, Angel was still playing with her legos. I had her get in bed and we went right to sleep.
Thank you for reading my blog and being a part of my life. I appreciate you.
Love, Victoria
